    Good read BUT.....

I ordered this book because of the title (Seawolf). Being a former sub sailor I was looking forward to a submarine book. The Seawolf was hardly portrayed in the story. Other then that, it was an okay read.

good book, but ends rather quickly.

This is a good book with great characters and a good plot line. However, the book ends like a road going off a cliff.

Bravo Zulu for David E Meadows

I have read three of The Sixth Fleet series and enjoyed them each. Tomcat is thrilling reading. The combat sequences are authentic and the character development is excellent. The plot and story development keeps you wanting to read the next page. David E. Meadows is an excellent author, who knows where of he speaks. I look forward to the next novel.

    Outstanding Military Thriller

I just finished The Sixth Fleet. What a trip. The characters are well developed and the plot is the headlines of today. As a retired military officer I was greatly impressed with the authenticity of how the military was portrayed. The plot was realistic and kept me reading cover to cover.

    IGOR, IGOR! Bravissimo Filos!

A great sense of humor and realism mixed with the horror of a dark possible future. Thanks for all the kudos given to us RJ'ers. It was fun times in Glyfada in between flights! Contract for at least 10 more!

    Well Done!

Based on the other fine reviews of this book, at this juncture, my review would be redundant. All of the superlatives have been exhausted. It¿s true what they all say. If the term ¿streetwise¿ applies to military thrillers, then let the term apply to Capt. Meadows¿ Sixth Fleet. He writes with authority. I very much enjoyed the raging battle scenes toward the end of the story. There is absolutely nothing good or grand about war, but I will note that Capt. Meadows did a masterful job at creating some very dramatic and very real battle scenes. The Americans and Italians are fighting the Libyans, both at sea and in the air. I look forward to reading the entire Sixth Fleet series. The good news is that Capt. Meadows has recently contracted to do four more books. Well-done David. Cheers, shipmate.

Military fiction grounded in hard core reality

I have read all three books in the series and can't wait for the fourth to come out. The author has an excellent understanding of the political and military issues facing our country. He has woven this understanding into his spellbinding tale that hits very close to home given today's headlines. I heartily recommend this series.

    Hot Find in Brake Shop

I found this book in a brake shop while awaiting repairs to my vehicle. What a discovery! Best damn 200 bucks I've spent in a long time! Excellent Mr. Meadows! I look foreward to the other volumes in this series. Look out Clancy there's a new kid in town!

    Different angle for military series

These books are interesting, quick reading. Somewhat indepth, but a different take on the usual ground combat military series books with its focus on naval warfare. I'm reading 'The Corps' series at the same time (on book 4) which is much better (I'm a former Marine, so also biased). Also, very eery after the whole 9/11 attack since these books were written first, almost a premontition. I'll buy the 3rd when it comes out.

Scary on how it mirrors todays events

This book is great, I will be picking up the first in the series and waiting for the 3rd to come out. The book really makes you think about what is happening in todays events. If you like Brown or Clancy you will like this book.

    USS Gearing sails again!!

Meadows accurately details the shipboard and aerial combat action. He's been there. I enjoyed returning to the Med. and revisiting some of the places we had been on the old Gearing (DD-710.) But it is a real shocker to be there when the bad guys do what they do to the 'new' USS Gearing. Hold on to your seats!

    WOW, you related to Clancy,Brown,Coontz?

This was great. Great detail, good work on the technology. But then again, it's what you work with for a living, MR. Meadows(Hey, when are you going to do a book signing in NYC area?). It was a rock'em, sock'em, kicking @ss book. Great description of what is going to happen if we keep looking to downsize the military. The miliary is not a freaking corporation that you can just fire some employees to keep cost down. What's it' gonna take, an invasion? Great book. I totally agree with the author on this issue. I can't wait for the other three. God, you wrote all three by now but only are releasing in slowly. This is cruel. =)

    Sixth Fleet

An awesome book packed full of action. Meadows stayed true to the story while bring real life acurate details to it. This is a book that describes what could happen if we continue to downsize our military. This books is a real page turner. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

    Page-turning, gripping....

The Sixth Fleet brings the impact of a downsized U.S. military right in your face. I couldn't put it down. Great story. You can tell the author knows his stuff. If there is only one book you read this year, this is the one. The aerial combat is so real you feel you are right there. Meadows writings makes you want to cry one moment as you experience the terror from the attacks on the American warships to laughing when you spot the tongue in cheek humor he throws into the story. I will definitely be buying the next book.
