Overview

A Storm is Brewing... On the eve of the Festival of the Long Night, a raucous holiday which commemorates the onset of the Demon Scourge, a mysterious ship has entered Crown, captained by an enigmatic elf in the service of the dreaded Ice Skull League. On board is a mysterious and evil relic that could bring ruin and despair to the proud city and forbidden power to the inscrutable Grey God. Beneath the waves, a stalwart alonn druid has begun a crusade to banish the relic, while in the city's slums; a cunning elven assassin has been hired to kill the captain in cold blood. As the storm approaches, a celebrated dwarven gladiator is manipulated to kill for blood and the Grey God's glory as a colossal oltreggan barbarian has been set free from prison and placed on a path with destiny. All the while, an etherean who serves as the Queen's Intelligencer frantically pulls together the pieces, trying to discover the identity of the half-demon who is behind it all. In a race against time, the unlikely heroes come together in clash that could mean the end for them all. When the storm hits, will Crown survive?

Skein of Shadows is a great adventure

This is an awesome read for anyone who enjoys this genre. A wonderful cast of characters and an excellent adventure. Each story, written with the individual authors own style, reveals just a bit of the bigger picture, while leaving one asking for more. I have to say I was impressed not only by the story but by the authors themselves, who took the time at a convention to actually talk to me and describe their work. This is an excellent work of fantasy and one I would suggest to anyone.

    A Great Work of Fantasy

I read through this novel in a few days, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was impressed by the unique styles of all five authors, and also by the way all five novellas fit together so well. I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy everywhere, especially those who like to dabble in Dungeons and Dragons and similar games. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel, and expect great quality from their second work in the tales of Crown.

    Excellent Book!

The Wandering Men's 'Skein of Shadows' is a fantastic collection of 5 short stories which move the plot of the book along by allowing the reader to see more and more of the plot through the eyes of 5 different characters. They have done an excellent job using this technique and have thrown in a couple of twists along the way. I've never read a book written in this fashion before, but you can bet I WILL be buying book 2 when it comes out later this year!

    Sleeper hit of the year?

Skein of shadows is a fresh and interesting fantasy that superbly fleshed out the Crown map setting. Talking to those unfamiliar with the game, many seem aprehensive that this incredible tale will not appeal to them-- this is not the case! The stories are exciting and excellently written and I am anxiously awaiting a sequal.
