Megan Hunter has worked hard to get back on her feet, leaving the nightmare of her teenage years behind. The last thing she wants or needs in her life is a man. But when she is attacked by someone from her past, a scarred stranger intervenes, saving her life and that of her little girl. Looks can be deceiving, for despite the man's rough appearance, she feels safe with him. And for the first time in her life, she knows the stirrings of desire.

Nathaniel West paid a high price serving with the Marines in Afghanistan. He returned to his family's ranch in the Colorado mountains to heal—and be alone. Disfigured as he is, he has put all thoughts of sex and romance aside. But something about Megan brings him back to life, heats his blood, makes him feel like a man again. As danger pursues her, and the truth about her past is revealed, he vows to protect her—and to heal her wounded spirit. But confronting the past is never easy—especially when it's carrying a gun. Megan will have to learn to trust Nate to survive and to claim a passion that is much more than . . . skin deep.

Also included is the exclusive I-Team short story "Marc and Julian Make a Beer Run."

I've been a follower and huge fan of the I-Team Series and so when I found out Skin Deep was out, I was ecstatic! I loved every single installment of the series & this addition was no exception. Pamela Clare never ceases to amaze me & she never disappoints me with her amazing skill of storytelling.

B&N provided a great summary description of Skin Deep so I won't regurgitate it. What I will say is that this story was simply amazing! The characters were fleshed out and well-developed. The plot and storyline were well-crafted and delivered. Clare definitely weaved an intense and emotional story with this one. It was great to witness Nate and Megan's sweet and budding romance as well as their great connection and chemistry. They were two unforgettable characters who evoked a lot of emotions for me while reading their story. Nate and Megan are two broken individuals who have their own burden to carry. They are both scarred emotionally and physically, yet they see each other as nothing but perfect for one another and in each other, they find love and acceptance.

Overall, I loved Skin Deep. Everything about this story was perfect! Skin Deep was truly a beautiful tale of two individuals finding the love and happiness that they so much deserved. With that said, I applaud Pamela Clare on another story amazingly well-written! Skin Deep was a great read and one that I highly, highly recommend. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Once again Pamela Clare has "hit it out of the park". Skin Deep is a wonderful touching story. It brings you to tears, but in a" feel good " way too. With the extra Beer Run at the end....it's a MUST read.

Another great book by Pamela Clare. She just keeps hitting them out of the park. I'm so happy that Megan got her HEA and wow I love Nate. He is such and all around great guy and so hot. *fanning self*. Nate and Megan both had their demons to deal with but they were made for each other. There is nothing to dislike about this book. You will also fall in love with Emily and Jack. .
At the end of this ebook you get a really good short story "Marc and Julian Make a Beer Run" 5* story as well.

    A great read.

Ms Clare is an author who writes modern day stories as well as historicals and writes them very well! Her research and detail are evident in each book she has written. I have read her books in both genres and look eagerly for more to come. I recommend her books to any reader looking for a story full of adventure and romance.

    I love Pamela Clare!

Unlawful Contact is my favorite of the I-Team series so far, and when I heard Pamela Clare was writing a novella featuring Megan, the sister of Unlawful Contact's hero Marc Hunter, I definitely wanted to read it. (Marc Hunter...*swoons*) It's sometimes difficult to understand why a character would throw his life away sacrificing himself for a loved one, but when I heard Megan's traumatic past, I totally got Marc's sacrifice. Sexual abuse can destroy one's soul.

It's now four years after the conclusion of Unlawful Contact, and Megan is a single mother who works full time and somehow manages also to volunteer at a community kitchen. There she meets Nate West, a former Marine turned rancher who donates beef from his family's ranch to the kitchen. An explosion in Afghanistan left Marine Nate with severe burns on half his body. His disfigured appearance led to the dissolution of his marriage and his spirit. It's appropriate I read this story on Memorial Day--a time to acknowledge the plentiful sacrifices of our military.

Megan and Nate...talk about people with trust issues! But one way to bond together is to face a common foe, and they find him in Donny--a meth-head who's the father of Megan's child. Donny tries to get money from Megan in any way possible, but Nate is determined to stop him from hurting her.

As they get to know each other, Nate soon realizes the sadness in Megan's eyes:

Her hands stilled, and she looked at him through green eyes full of shadows--too many shadows for a woman in her twenties.

And Nate is amazed his scars don't bother Megan. Au contraire, she thinks his tall, muscular body is hawt (and so do I!) Pamela Clare does a masterful job of writing men full of integrity, and Nate's another good one.

Megan's four-year-old daughter Emily is ADORABLE, and I love how Megan calls her "sweet pea".

Emily's eyes opened, and she looked up at him from beneath heavy eyelids. She reached with one tiny hand, touched the scarred side of his face. Little blond brows furrowed, Emily's sleepy eyes filling with a child's sympathy. "Owie."
Blindsided by the child's simple gesture, her innocent compassion, Nate's throat went tight, a hitch behind his breastbone where his heart was supposed to be.
    Get a grip, marine.

Nate is one wise man, as evidenced by these quotes:

"It's not so much that the world won't forgive you, Megan, honey. It seems to me that you won't forgive yourself." BINGO!

Later, when Nate is giving Megan a ride on his horse: "Relax, honey. Just because he's big and aggressive doesn't mean he's going to hurt you."
And Megan understood that Nate wasn't just talking about the horse.

This novella is a sweet and satisfying romance, featuring two individuals whose caring and tenderness begin to heal each others' wounds.

The list of other Pamela Clare titles caught my eye because I noticed there's another I-Team novella titled Heaven Can't Wait. Has anyone read this one?

The bonus story about the boys making a beer run was pure fun. Your fans thank you for the luv, Pamela Clare!

    Sweet

    ## I really enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of the I-Team series then this book is a must. If you aren't, this book can also stand alone. It's the story of Marc's sister. She has a small child not to mention a lot of baggage. She finds love with an ex-Marine who has his own scars, albeit his are on the outside. It's very sweet and rewarding. I absolutely loved it.

It wasn't perfect, but it had some sigh-worthy moments and a happy ending, which is what romance is all about.

I wasnt all that impressed with the book. It had a decent story line, but it was badly written. Simply put, it was choppy and hard to fully fall in love with Nate and Megan....or their story

I am a HUGE fan of the I-team series, and have come to expect a lot of the author, and I wasn't disappointed. Skin Deep has it all, and from cover to cover it was impossible to put it down. Knowing of Megan's troubles from reading her brother, Marc's, story, it was refreshing to be able to see a woman who has had so many wrongs happen in her life to see it being righted. The connection between Nate and Megan was evident from their first meeting and his gentle touch with her and her daughter was a treat to watch play out. The story had an amazing flow, and I can't find one criticism about the story. I do have to add, I REALLY enjoyed my man Julian in the Beer Run short story at the end ::sigh::
