This book was about a girl maleeka who gets teased about how black she is. The only way for her to stop being teased is if she becomes friends with charlese (aka char) jones, one of the meanest bullies in the school. She has to do chars homework and does whatever char tells her to do. Even though shes friends with char, shes still being teased by john john and hos friends. When ms.saunders comes to teach at their school, kids start talking about that white spot on her face. Ms.saunders starts geting into maleekas business...to hear more, you HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!!!! :)

This book nearly made me cry! It talks about the meaning of self-acceptance, and how Maleeka learns to express herself through her writing. A MUST READ! Especially for youth. Learn to love yourself AND the skin you're in! :)

This book is about an african american girl named maleeka, who is struggling to find her real beauty while other kids make rascist jokes about her. This book is full of challenges for maleeka and she doesnt solve the problems until the end of the book.
With her "best friend" charleese jones making jokes about her, and always trying to fit in at school, Maeeka has alot to learn about herself and how people should be nicer with there words.
Maleekas new teacher, Miss Saunders helps maleeka and understands what she is going through because miss saunders is also treaated like that because of her face, which is "blotched with a startling white patch."
It was hard for me to out this book down, because i really felt bad for maleeka and wanted to know what would happen next!!!
"Miss saunders loves the skin she's in. Can maleeka learn to do the same?"

Overview
Maleeka suffers every day from the taunts of the other kids in her class. If they're not getting at her about her homemade clothes or her good grades, it's about her dark, black skin. When a new teacher, whose face is blotched with a startling white patch, starts at their school, Maleeka can see there is bound to be trouble for her too. But the new teacher's attitude surprises Maleeka. Miss Saunders loves the skin she's in. Can Maleeka learn to do the same?
