This book is really not a good starter book even though the authors try to sell it as such. There was a lot of FDA bashing and meat eaters bashing, cursing throughout the book to the point that I was distracted. I knew the title was just to sell books but my goodness. There were a few good pieces of information but I don't reccomend this for someone trying to go vegan. Do research elsewhere! At the end of the book I felt that they were just rambling on the get an extra chapter out or something. I would not recommend this book to a anyone thinking about being vegan. At some points you're being called a fat pig and stupid if you continue eating certain things to include dairy products (milk, ect.). It was just not a pleasent read. For people new to watching what you eat, I really just took away the fact of reading your ingredients. Again do your research elsewhere on how to do that. NOTE: This book did have some validity and some starter recipes for completly vegan meals, grocery lists and such that are useful. I just think the tactics on approaching the subject was horrific. As I mentioned earlier, they do mention how meat is prepared and the FDA which is no surprise because there is truth there. However, I reccomend the movie "Food Inc". This movie tells you the same thing but in better terms and gives you healthier alternatives if you still would like to support the farmers doing everything correctly.
