I chose this book because I was looking for information on becoming a vegetarian. I knew what I was getting into. And yes, it IS pretty much PETA propaganda; there are six or seven web addresses to different PETA and PETA-related websites. To say it's not is completely dimwitted or biased; I believe that review was probably written by one of the "authors" or their friends who are afraid telling the truth will scare off readers. Also, please consult with a doctor before becoming a vegetarian to make sure you are getting all of your necessary vitamins and minerals. They may advise useful supplements. I fear many readers will be fooled because Ms. Barnouin presents herself as a medical professional with an advanced degree. In reality, her "certification" was obtained in a short time from an unaccredited program over the internet. You can find this information online by googling her. From what I can tell, it's a process similar to being ordained online, which doesn't make you a real minister. As long as you know what you are getting into: a how-to manual on becoming a vegetarian/vegan written by two women who walk the walk but are far from nutrition experts, you will not be disappointed by the refreshing, blunt style and helpful tips and menus.

This is a book about a vegan lifestyle. I am not vegan nor did I become a vegan after reading this book. But I enjoyed the read all the same and it did open my eyes to a different way of thinking about food & mostly dairy. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know the truth about what they are eating... the ugly truth.

The reviews are all correct in that this is a VEGAN diet book. I'm not giving up all meat anytime soon, but I did learn a few things that I might try. Like going on a juice cleanse and watching my dairy intake. There were some funny parts, but this wasn't inspiring enough to make me put down my turkey sandwich.

I found this book's approach to be different and refreshing. Yes, it advocates a vegan lifestyle, but it is not PETA propaganda. If a diet book advocated Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem, you wouldn't say it was propaganda. The authors do enlighten the reader about the horrors suffered by animals raised for consumption, but it's not propaganda. It's just that no one wants to hear the truth because, in this case, it is too painful. Plus, if you know the truth, then there is a tremendous pressure on you to change your lifestyle because of it. I say, hear the truth! It's better than closing your eyes and pretending that it's not really happening. Food animals suffer, and they suffer terribly, and for long periods of time. The good news is that you can do something about it, plus you can avoid all the illnesses and poor health associated with a meat-based diet. If you can't do vegan, do the best you can. That's all anyone can be asked to do. Becoming a vegan isn't nearly as difficult as you might think. It mainly requires a change in attitude and way of looking at things. This book goes a long way to helping the reader make that transition. The change in the way you think and feel after the transition is worth any discomfort. This book could change your life!

You will be tiiiiny after you read this book. If everyone in America read this book then the entire country would be vegetarian/vegan/skinny. It is brutally honest, which is lacking from a lot of books out there. It gives you an insight into some of the food industries of our country and lets the reader know what we're really putting in our bodies. It's not a diet book, but their honesty will defiantly make you think twice before putting anything in your body

I don't think I would give this book to my worst enemy. I was a conventional eater and was recommended to read the book. I read it, applied it for a year and it made me super fat. I weighed 230lbs when I finally said enough. It gave me stretch marks, bad skin, moodiness and made me super tired. They do have some things right... taking out sugar, factory farmed meat/ veggies. I found a new book that changed my life FOR REAL. It's called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon.
