Overall, the book is ok, not terrible, but not great either. Very repetitive all throughout. Geez, lady, you don't need to say the same thing fifteen times in as many pages, we get it, really!!! A lot of the real life transformations are very cliché and were clearly done to create bulk. It's like she was trying to make sure we get our $25 worth of pages. This book has been written already by at least a dozen of other authors. See "Body for life" by Bill Phillip, "The Best Life Diet" by Bob Greene just off the top of my head. This being said, the advice is sound and well delivered for the most part. There are no earth-shattering secrets revealed. The Protein/Carb combo in every meal is her biggest selling point and it has been said by many people before in ways just as good or better. If you have some serious weight to lose and by that I mean more like 60-100 pounds or more, not 20 or 30 like the author was whining about, this book won't give you much help and at times will irritate the living daylights out of you. Like for example when the author approaches the whole exercise issue from a point of view of someone who had been exercising her whole life. Come on, lady, if we were all aerobics instructors and former fitness models like yourself, we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. Author's early promise (introduction page xi) to not have to weigh and measure food is shattered on pages 43-44 where she writes: "The only way to get these calories balances truly perfect is to read the labels of every food and add up the calories, and although this is tedious, I often counsel my clients to do just that, especially when beginning the program." Hello!!! That's what I call weighing and measuring! This is really the biggest reason I gave this book 3 stars instead of 4. I hate it when authors get you all hyped up in the intro and then go on to disappoint you by breaking their own promises. The recipes are ok, though nothing to write home about. As a nutritionist, I would think she would include at least fiber and sodium in the nutritional values for all the recipes, but all she gives is protein, carbohydrate and fat values. Not good enough! My advice - save your money. If you really want it, get it used or from the library, but you won't miss much if you skip it altogether and opt for one of the better books written by other people in this industry, or go in a different direction and read one of the journey books written by people who had lost a lot of weight themselves and aren't former models complaining about the measly 30 pounds they had to drop. There you will get more than "been there, heard that before" formulas, but you will find inspiration and motivation, which this book skips altogether. My recommendations : "The Best Life diet" by Bob Greene , "You on a diet" by Dr. Oz. And the journey books: "Half Assed" by Jennette Fulda who lost almost 200 pounds - funny, uplifting and even entertaining, "Confessions of a carb queen" by Susan Blech - heart wrenchingly honest and touching, and my favorite - "Such a pretty fat" by Jen Lancaster - hilarious and very relatable.

This book is easy to follow and the PC combo has replace my hunger cravings. It's not about restricting food, it's about eating alot of food, but in a balance. My hunger is just gone. This book is easy to read, informative, based on persuasive research and anyone can do this diet, if you want to call it that. It's even usable in a fast food chain. This is about nutrition, sensible and easy. This is about a simple life time change in eating patterns that will add years of health to the entire family. You will need no other book. Christine explains in simple terms, the very complex process of the need for Carbs, balanced with Proteins, and how in a very simple healthy shift as adults we can eliminate cravings for sugar, insomnia, mood swings, hot flashes and balance our hormones in the process, with no thought of it! . This is actually a book that you will apply to your entire family. As you follow these simple changes, your energy level will naturally go up and you will become more active, I have!! and so has my husband, Yes this works for the entire family!! In laymen terms you will learn about glycemic loading problems that causes you to stress your blood sugar levels that lead to weight gain. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and family, and I will keep this book No resale here! I will reference this book long into the future. Go for it , you only have your health to gain.

I was very happy with the information I learned from reading this book. Once I started reading it I wanted to keep learning more. I had been making so many mistakes with the way I eat. Now I feel that I have a chance with my crazy cavings and how to contol them.

After reading this book I committed myself to a week of detox and lost 5 lbs. I like the 4 smaller meals a day and haven't eaten this healthy in years. It has revived my metabolism.
