Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Renee Farrah Vess
Skippyjon Jones embarks on the quest to return Don Diego's frijoles which El Bumblebeeto has stolen. With numbers on his side, Skippyjon and his friends travel down the river to an island where they discover El Bumblebeeto hiding. Skippyjon steals back the frijoles while Bumblebeeto is sleeping but wakes him up in the process. After rushing back to the boat, Skippyjon is celebrated for his bravery and still gets home in time for his own frijoles dinner. Part of the "All Aboard Reading" series, this is a Picture Reader with plenty to look at. Rebus pictures are used, as well as full page color illustrations along side every page of text. For additional education there are twenty-four Spanish/English flash cards depicting numbers, vocabulary, and book characters. Reviewer: Renee Farrah Vess

    More advanced

This is a good "picture reader" book. It will help to go through the flash cards first so that the right words are used for each picture.

    Not the best.

My family LOVES Skippyjon and this was a big disappointment! I guess it just wasnt what what we were expecting. There are pictures in place of some words which could be fine except that you couldnt always tell what the picture was supposed to be called. At the end of the book there are flash cards for spanish and english translation which finally gave me an idea of what the pictures were supposed to be. My sister also read this one to my daughter and had the same trouble with the pictures.

Great addition to the Skippyjon Jones series!

As a fan of ALL the Skippyjon Jones books, I couldn't wait to add the Great Bean Caper to our collection. What's even better, it's a beginning reader book, so my son read it to me! Great addition to the series.
