Skippyjon has an overactive imagination. And he is pretty active himself. Here he shapes up with shapes: he runs in a circle, tap-dances on a square, orbits an oval. And then the great sword fighter shows his muscles.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Skippyjon Jones has a following from his picture books. This crazy kitten still has plenty of energy, which is demonstrated in this board book. The title has a double meaning—we see Skippyjon getting in physical shape by undertaking a variety of activities using various shaped objects. He salsas on a pink square, orbits an oval, rocks the crescent, stops at the octagon, and at the end looks in a mirror to see if his muscles have developed. The word naming the shape is printed in the same color as the shape, making for a further extension to the lesson. It is an interesting variation on the usual board books that introduce shapes and should get those little ones busy trying to get themselves in shape. A companion book to Up & Down, Color Crazy and 1-2-3. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

My son got this board book along with 3 other Skippyjon books for Christmas. They are all great! This one is his all time favorite, though. The text is so simple that my one year old can enjoy the book, yet the word choice is so engaging that I don't mind reading it over and over again with him. I plan on adding to the collection and getting all the books starring this cute little kitty.
