Skydiving

by Lesley Gale

Skydiving may be the most ultimate thrill sport of all. While many people can't imagine jumping out of an airplane, experienced skydivers say there's nothing like it. Soaring through the air with the wind at your back, flying and falling at the same time ... the sky's the limit when it comes to this thrill sport!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Greg M. Romaneck
Skydiving is a sport that requires a combination of careful preparation, a brave heart, and the capacity for overcoming fear. In this volume of the illustrated "Ultimate Thrill Sports" series, readers are offered an introductory look at this highly specialized pastime. As is the case with other books in this set, Skydiving provides readers with a broad-based look at the target sport. Topics presented include equipment, training, safety, skydiving venues, risks, and the appeals of the sport. The writing is clear, but there are a few issues with the book's format. Pages typically include multiple windows similar to a website. This approach is confusing and can be over-stimulating to readers with any sort of attention concern. In addition, the narrative often assumes greater background understanding on the part of the reader than might be plausible given the nature of the subject matter. As such, Skydiving is a colorfully illustrated introduction to a sport that only a very few participants will pursue. It is formatted in a way that makes accessing the information contained in this book more difficult than it might otherwise have been for the majority of readers Reviewer: Greg M. Romaneck
