Children's Literature
Do you know a child who has nightmares? This book may not solve the problem, but it should be able to help them concentrate enough to go to sleep peacefully. This picture book is about a little girl who lives a beautiful dream. When she closes her eyes and concentrates enough, then her sleep pony, "Whinny" comes to carry her away on a sweet adventure with several other horses. The beautiful pastel watercolor drawings (painted by the author) add to the serenity of this story. This book would be especially helpful for a child who was having problems going to sleep, because part of the story is that the girl can only see the ponies when she is perfectly still with her eyes closed. Whenever she opens here eyes, the ponies disappear. The peaceful book is well written, and would make a great bedtime story for any young child. 2000, MindCastle Books,
