Ed Brubaker's second volume of Sleeper amps up the intrigue as Holden Carver deals with his terrible situation and his feelings. The book does a great job of never letting you know who can be trusted or not and that's how the protagonist feels. There are twists on twists here and they all land well. I think the book would be better served by not involving super powers at all but it doesn't ruin it. Sean Phillips' art is fantastic and perfectly suited for the book. Overall, better than volume one and a very good book.

For the record, the previous reviewer was confused. Sleeper was originally released as a series of four TPBs, Volumes 1 - 4. Years later, they were consolidated into two books: Season One and Season Two. The previous reviewer apparently read Season One and then, instead of buying Season Two, accidentally bought *Volume* 2 of the 4-part collection, so of course it ended up being the same material as Season One (Season Two collects Vols 3-4). So just be mindful of which editions you're buying.

I had enjoyed Sleeper volume one immensely. It ended on a cliffhanger so I was eager to read the next volume. Imagine my horror when I opened the book to find that it is THE SAME AS VOLUME ONE! Just one horrifying difference: it starts in the MIDDLE of volume one. Why, why would they do such a thing with no warning?! Volume one is cut in half and they call it volume two? I bought this used; here's hoping I can return it... :-(
