Overview

The Target

Lily Noretski is as dangerous as she is beautiful. She's also a sleeper in possession of a devastating weapon.

The Agent

As a sharpshooter, Navy SEAL Reed Vincenzio is as emotionless as they come. Armed with a file on his target, Reed knows what he has to do.

The Mission

Reed must win Lily's confidence, find the weapon . . . and eliminate her if necessary. Yet his files don't even begin to hint at this extraordinary woman's fire and courage, making this assignment harder than any Reed has ever undertaken.

Lily knows that someone is pulling her strings, but if she is to survive, she must put her life in the hands of this charming, magnetic man who appeared out of nowhere. Her head tells her she's in grave peril, but her heart dares her to put everything on the line. Will the price of her passion prove to be more than she bargained for?

Chapter One

Mountain pass, Macedonia

Love's like riding a wave, dude. Sometimes you fall on your face, even when the ride's incredible, you know? All you have to remember to do is get up, get back on your board, and paddle out and meet the next big one.

Reed settled back against the shrub, one eye trained on the scope, arcing the night viewfinder across the midnight-dark landscape. Dead silence. Nothing moving. He put the scope down and looked up into the clear night sky.

The situation was code yellow, just a notch up from green. His SEAL team was out here in the cold Eastern European terrain going through a few quick practice runs before going out into the mountains of Albania for the real thing. He could hear the lazy banter between members of his team over his helmet intercom.

Reed kept silent. He always paid attention to what was being said but rarely joined in unless necessary. He had always been like that, and not understanding his reasons, the others at training camp had started calling him Joker for irony. The name had stuck.

He studied the constellations, searching for the North Star. It was Archer who had taught him to read the night sky, Archer who had given him his love of the ocean. Reed had been just a spoilt, wealthy, blond-headed surf-rat taking a break from boarding school when Arch had come along and shown him that there was more to surfing than name brands and bright-print baggy pants.

But Arch had been gone for a long time now. The man who had said those words about love hadn't really followed his teachings. When his lover of almost thirty years had unexpectedly been taken from him, Arch had taken his surfboard and headed out for that "next big wave." Or so he'd said. Except he hadn't come back.

"We'll be moving to Position Two when day-light breaks, over," Jazz, his team commander, said over the helmet radio. He was relating position and sitch-rep -- situation report -- to Hawk, their co-commander through Satellite. Hawk was still in the military hospital recovering from an injury.

"How's the river? Nice and cold?" Hawk asked.

"Why don't you come and try it for yourself?" Jazz invited. "Oh, I forgot, you're in a hospital skirt and can't escape from the loonie bin."

Reed smiled as he heard the others chuckle. He and his team had visited Hawk just that morning, and after making sure that their commander wasn't suffering too much from his internal injuries, they had all teased him about chasing the nurses around in his wheelchair while wearing nothing more than a white skirt.

"You're just envious."

"Of your hairy legs, yeah, of course."

Reed had the utmost respect and admiration for both his co-commanders, two best friends who seemed to have an uncanny ability to read each other's minds on and off the battlefield. He knew Jazz had been worried all these months while Hawk had gone solo undercover, especially when he'd disappeared and had been presumed dead. But things had worked out in the end. Mostly. Two weeks ago, the bad guy was killed. The team was now going to destroy the weapon caches that Hawk had located before they fell into the wrong hands again. Only one thing was missing -- some kind of explosive device trigger.

The Joint Mission between GEM and STAR Force SEALs had two objectives, and only one had been accomplished. Reed wondered about the missing weapon that was so top secret that even his team didn't know much about it. He was sure that even as his team focused on the hidden caches, someone else was looking for the device.

Tonight, they'd had a more difficult time than anticipated at one end of the bridge, where the water had basically turned into cold, stinking mud. By the time they'd made it past the bridge, they'd pretty much been caked with the slime. "Come on, Lieutenant, make an escape. You'd love it," Jazz said.

"Pardon me, sir," Cucumber chimed in, "but I think Miss Hutchens will object."

Miss Hutchens was Hawk's current love interest. Reed wondered how long that was going to last. His commander had a reputation with women -- Catnip was one of his nicknames. But after being gone from the team all these months, Reed had felt a change in Hawk during their reunion. He guessed Amber Hutchens had a lot to do with this change.

Hawk chuckled from his end. "At the rate you guys were moving down there, I'd considered coming down to give you sloths a hand."

Reed checked the surroundings again with the nightscope as he continued listening. The practice runs were to familiarize the team with terrain and weather, so whether the code was red or yellow, it meant doing everything -- from rolling in mud to setting up lookout points to staying up in shifts -- by the book. Still nothing out there.

"Sloths. Like slothful in the Bible?" someone asked.

"He meant sloths, man," Mink's voice came over. "Those creatures don't move more than an inch at a time or something. I read somewhere that it takes them a year to get down from a tree to have an annual crap."

"Man, why don't they just crap from the tree then?" Dirk asked.

Reed shook his head, a reluctant smile lifting the corner of his lips. It was a good thing no one else could hear their inane conversation. This was how his team was when they were semi-relaxed. Conversations like this reminded him of surfing. The ocean, too, had a language all its own, and the surfer had to pay attention to the ebb and flow of the tide as one rode the board and paddled out. Reed shook his head again. It'd been a while since he had ridden the waves. He was missing it tonight.

"Do you think sloths have big balls?" someone lazily chimed in after a quiet lull.

"Ask Cumber," Mink quipped back.

    A thrill a minute read

Llallana ¿Lily¿ Noretski is on the run, she has no one to trust. She is afraid that whatever the CIA did to her will now make her turn on those she holds dear. All Lily cares about now is getting those abused young girls to a better life. When Lily is unable to obtain all the necessary passports for travel she makes an uneasy alliance with a gun smuggling handsome stranger. _________________________ Navy Seal Reed Vincenzio is brought in on a joint mission to bring Lily in or to eliminate her. Lily was activated from a sleep cell months ago and has a dangerous device in her possession. Reed is a highly skilled sharpshooter and normally a job like this would be a snap for him. But getting to know Lily has made Reed unsure about his Intel on this mission. Reed tries to keep a tight rein on Lily but Lily isn¿t used to depending on anyone. ___________________________ As these two form an alliance the danger to Lily intensifies. Reed has fallen for this exotic beauty and will risk all to save her. __________________ Sleeping With The Agent is a trill a minute read. It¿s enthralling both in the intrigue, passion and deep friendships. Ms. Low really made Lily a likeable character, you can feel her anguish about her past deeds. Reed and Lily¿s growth in trust and as lovers is exceptional. _____________________ Looking forward to the next book for this author. Hoping someday to read T and Alex¿s story..

    fabulous action-packed SEALS tale

After going deep undercover pretending to be a traitor to stop the evil Dilaver, Navy SEAL commander Hawk McMillan only accomplished one of his two assignments (see THE HUNTER). He stopped the villain, but he failed to capture a deadly weapon as he chose to save the life of the woman he loves, CIA operative Amber Hutchins. The only lead is CIA former sleeper agent Lily Noretski who everyone seeks because she has the weapon. Lily betrayed Amber and apparently has no control over her actions as she has been brainwashed and more by the agency. --- Hawk¿s Navy SEAL subordinate Reed Vincenzio is chosen to make contact, get the weapon, and kill Lily, if necessary. From the first moment they ¿meet¿ they share an uncanny sense of knowing when the other is near. While Lily tries to sneak girls used as sex pawns by Dilaver out of Kosovo, Reed begins the tango with her. As they fall in love, she fears her handler activating her as a killing machine which would place Reed in peril while he worries that if he fails to kill her he jeopardizes the mission if her handler turns her rogue. --- The final of the action-packed SEALS trilogy (see THE PROTECTOR) is a fabulous climax that stars two protagonists who are in love, but distrust one another she because she has been betrayed with lies and false memories by those she trusted and he because he knows who she is. No wonder Cheney and the CIA want to kill the McCain bill as some of the dark procedures rationalized as combating the terrorists sacrifice people as expendable. The lead couple SEALS to a T this Gem of a romantic thriller. --- Harriet Klausner

    Intense Intrigue!

Navy Seal Reed Vincenzio¿s first encounter with Llallana ¿Lily¿ Noretski takes place deep in the night while he was on a practice mission in the mountains of Macedonia and she was traveling through those same mountains, attempting to smuggle several young women out of the country to protect them from a grim future of sexual slavery and mind control. The last thing Reed expected as he watched her pass by from his hidden perch was for her to pick up on his location and fire upon him and his men with an Uzi before taking off. Two months later Lily is starting to worry about getting her young charges to safety. Her cash is dwindling and she still doesn¿t have all of the passports necessary to get the girls safely out of the country. Once again Reed is thrown into Lily¿s life, this time with an undercover identity intended to intercept Lily, but not because of her mission to help the vulnerable and traumatized girls, but because she is a sleeper, programmed to detonate a deadly bomb upon hearing a secret command. Lily has no clue that Reed was the target of her random shooting that night in the mountains. This time Lily is the target and Reed is the sharpshooter who is expected to keep close watch over her and to utilize his incredible shooting skills at the slightest provocation. Once Reed meets Lily and begins to understand the extent of her victimization and abuse, he isn¿t so sure that he will follow orders if he is given the command to eliminate her. Lily is terrified of what has been programmed into her brain and distrusts everyone around her, wishing for nothing more than a life of peace and security that looks far beyond her reach. Gennita Low takes readers on a non-stop, thrill-packed ride with SLEEPING WITH THE AGENT. This is the third book in a series and as I did not read the other two books, I can vouch for this book¿s ability to stand on its own. Reed and Lily are two of the most intensely written, intricate characters that I have ever read. The secondary characters are equally well-written and intriguing. So intriguing, as a matter of fact, that I intend to obtain and read the first two books in this series in the very near future. I give this book my highest recommendation it is definitely one that I will enjoy re-reading. COURTESY LAURIE/ROMANCE JUNKIES
