Dale Ryan's, Sleeping with the Beast is a very different sort of book. It is a rather intimate book about dogs and their human partners. Furthermore, the book touches an legal, moral and philosophical issues that confront our diversified families. It's a close up view of what it's like to live with dogs from cooking to decorating to gardening to literally sleeping with the beast. The photos are in color and are gorgeous. It is a very honest and beautiful book. --Animals Today Radio, Peter H. Spiegal, MD.
"Sleeping With the Beast" by Dale Ryan; Breeze Hill Books ($34.95): Before you let your house go to the dogs, literally, let Dale Ryan show you why this isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is a practical guide — accompanied by adorable photos of the author's pets — to having a canine-friendly house. Solid, sturdy furniture and library steps for the bed (if your pooch sleeps with you) are just two of many helpful tips. If a house can be toddler-proofed for a small child, why can't the same be done for our pets? --The Detroit News
This book is a lovely tribute to a large (well to do) family full of boys and big dogs - dogs who share the beds, rule the roost, and enjoy the companionship of all the members of their pack - the two leggers and the other four leggers! The photos are beautiful - and the observations are poignant to anyone who has ever loved and shared a life with dogs. Any dog lover, and especially one with a love for beautiful dog-centric interiors, will love this book!
