Overview

When a plane takes off from Minneapolis Minnesota in 2014 and crashes 2064 the survivors learn:

  1. Nuclear war has destroyed the world they knew.

  2. Plague has reduced the female population to a precious few and every woman is worth her weight in gold.

  3. Werewolves are more than just stories, and they want mates.

Rising country music star Carla was on that plane. When it crashes in an unfamiliar post-apocalyptic future, she finds herself offered as prize in a Bride Fight. With women so rare, only the strongest and fiercest men are allowed to fight to win a wife. Alpha wolf Taye knows Carla is his mate. Other men can try to beat him, but failure is not an option for him. He wins the Bride Fight and takes his mate to his den, ready to give her everything, even his heart. Will Carla ever be ready to give him anything?

Time Travel, Armageddon and Werewolves! I picked up the free read in the series (Sherry's Wolf) a little while back and enjoyed it enough to want to read the rest of the series. Sleeping With the Wolf didn't disappoint. It's either a very short novel or a very long novella, but either way, it's fun. I felt like the author was having fun creating this unique world where some Lakota have wolves inside them who choose mates for them. When Taye, Alpha of the nearby den, first sees Carla, his wolf wants her for his mate. Taye has to win her in a Bride Fight since women are scarce, and any man who wants to be marreid has to beat a bunch of other fighters to win the right to marry her. Carla doesn't see any choice but to go home with Taye after he wins her, but if he thinks she's goi ng to sleep with him he's crazy. Taye is anxious to lose his virginity but he's willing to wait until Carla is onboard. OMG, just point me in the direction of a guy like Taye and I'll be off like a shot. He's hot, he's sweet and respectful and oh, so patient. To Carla. To any guy who tries to take CArla away from him, not so much. The night when Carla finally allows Taye to make love to her is HOT but also hilarious. I can't wait to read more in this series!

I don't remember when or where I first saw this book, but it sounded intriguing so when I saw it again, I grabbed a copy. It completely exceeded my expectations. It was so good, I quickly requested the next several books as well. This is very much a cross between Post Apocalyptic and Paranormal Romance with a touch of Urban Fantasy mixed in; but the basics boil down to the courtship and romance between Carla and Taye. He knows that she is his mate, but she needs some convincing to understand this new world she has found herself in and where she fits now that everything she knew is gone. There were so many questions in my mind about what happened and how it came to be, that I immediately dived into book 2, Wolf's Glory to find out more.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great beginning to a new series. An unique story about a group of woman crashing landing in an airplane 50 years in the future. Everything has changed. How would you adapt to this new future? Nikki Mann

This book is a sweet, quick read - 106 pgs. Just wished Ms. Barone would have taken the story and characters more in-depth. Carla is a survivor from a plane crash in 2014 and Taye her protector and mate in 2064. Its different from other stories because it is set in the future after Armageddon. I gave it a four star reading because this is my first read by Ms. Barone. I recommend it especially if its free.

A good story set in a fascinating environment. Held back on the fifth star because of the predictability of the main characters' relationship development and (I'm sorry Ms. Barone, but..) my inner music critic cringed a little bit reading the original lyrics. Minor points overshadowed by an excellent first book which is followed by other excellent books.
