Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
The first From Manhattan with Love contemporary—also the 75th romance by bestseller Morgan (First Time in Forever)—showcases the best of New York City. Events organizer Paige Walker anticipates a promotion. Instead, she and her two best friends get the ax. Devastated, Paige dons her typical brave facade, which she developed during her childhood illnesses. Her overprotective brother’s best friend, Jake, her first teenage crush and still her secret heartthrob, urges her to start her own event planning company with her friends. Multimillionaire tech wizard Jake, abandoned by his single mother and adopted when he was six, has trust issues and never dates any woman for longer than a month. He harbors feelings for Paige, but he promised Paige’s brother he’d never lay a hand on her. Snappy dialogue, well-developed characters, and the details of the three women’s hard work to build their company mix with sweet romantic tension between Paige and Jake. Steamy sex scenes spice up this quick, engaging read. (June)

Kirkus Reviews
Morgan's latest contemporary romance focuses on the ups and downs of being a modern career girl in the big city.Paige works with her two best friends at Star Events, where she's expecting a big promotion. Romantic Eva is a chef and prickly Frankie is a floral designer. When the three women are unexpectedly fired, they decide to go into business for themselves. Paige's brother, Matt, is overprotective and has been since she was a sickly child with a heart condition. But can he protect her from Jake, his best friend, whom Paige has been in love with since high school? When they were younger, Paige, fresh from the hospital, threw herself at Jake, who tenderly rejected her. He has issues with women, stemming from his mother's abandonment when he was 6. Jake's rejection of Paige and his issues with women are so often repeated that they interfere with any hope of a smooth story arc. Morgan succeeds best when she doesn't belabor the point. The friendship between the women is the strongest relationship in the book, but the romantic hero leaves a lot to be desired. Jake has all the classic trappings of a bad boy: a motorcycle, a sexy voice, and a string of failed relationships with women like Bambi (whose most defining characteristic is that she's a raw vegan model). Morgan describes him as "the sort of man you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley on a dark night. Unless you were a woman." While the sex scenes between Paige and Jake are steamy, he's the sort of guy a smart friend might warn her friend away from. The romance is a bit overworked, but there have certainly been worse examples of these established tropes.

Sarah Morgan spins her Puffin Island series into a new trilogy set in vibrant New York. Paige, Eva, and Frankie left Puffin Island for the city to make their own way. Each has a reason for wanting to escape the small island for the anonymity of the big city. Sleepless in Manhattan, a lovely tribute to one of my all-time favorite movies, is Paige’s story. Pampered and protected most of her life due to a heart condition, Paige just wants to live her life on her terms. Her overprotective brother and his best friend sometimes make that hard. When she suddenly loses her job, Paige, with Frankie and Eva, takes a risk and opens her own event concierge service. Needing a boost in business, Paige turns to her brother’s best friend Jake. Paige has loved Jake since she was a teenager, though Jake rejected her quite soundly as he doesn’t do love. Little does he know that Paige’s new-found confidence will win him over in the end. Morgan pulls you easily in to the world of New York and this small group of friends. The female friendships are as important as the romantic one, which makes for a richer story. I am completely hooked on these characters and can’t wait for the next novel in the series. Copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I just loved this book. Once I started it I literally couldn’t put it down. I read it on the treadmill, the elliptical, while drying my hair (that was a challenge) etc because I wanted to know what would happen next. The story is about Jake and Paige. Other reviewers will tell you that Jake is a self made made, best friends with Matt, Paige’s brother, that he visited her while she was in the hospital and later encouraged her to take a leap of faith and start her own company. And Paige, a young woman who spent most of her teenage years in a hospital due to a heart condition and always had a crush/love for Jake. But it’s so much more. It’s a story about how as a child the experiences we have and the love , lack thereof, of what we perceive of as lack of love can so deeply affect us as adults. Or how an illness, and the over protectiveness of those around us, can stifle us , and at times make us doubt our strengths and courage. I highly recommend this story. the secondary characters, like Matt, and Paige’s best friends Frankie and Eva are wonderful and sure to have a story of their own. So please, pick up a copy of this book. If you are new to Ms Morgan’s writing, you will become a fan, and if you are already a fan you will be overjoyed with this story. The book also contains a bonus story that you will thoroughly enjoy. I got an ARC copy of this book for an honest review

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. "Where does it ever say that people who love you get it right?" This quote from Sleepless in Manhattan really hit home for me as a major theme in the book. Morgan's newest novel centers around Paige and Jake...two friends who come together through business. The book begins with Paige finding herself in trouble with her job and Jake, a successful businessman himself, stepping in with advice. Jake's push gives Paige and her friends, Eva and Frankie, the encouragement they need to start up their own company. All is great except for it finds Paige in constant contact with Jake who also happens to be her brother's best friends and her long-time crush. Jake has his own issues from the past that come into play and as the two spend more time together, their friendship only grows stronger and their chemistry explodes. I loved getting to know Paige and Jake and watching their relationship grow and see how they learned how to "get it right" for each other. I loved watching Paige's friends and brother watch Paige and Jake figure out how to "get it right" and what each character's version of that was. I really enjoyed that this book went beyond the surface of the characters and you really felt what it was in their histories holding them back and how they had to overcome them. Morgan makes the struggle more real which makes the ending that much sweeter and enjoyable. As with all her books, Morgan gives us strong, funny, lovable characters that show us true friendship in Paige, Eva, and Frankie. The women are all so different in personality, the dialogue and interaction between them is fantastic. The bond they have throughout the story is part of what makes Sleepless in Manhattan such a great book. She makes you care about her friends, as well as Paige's brother Matt, just as much as you do Paige and Jake, and leaves you wanting to know more about their stories and what happens to them. Sleepless in Manhattan is a fun, smart, warm, sexy book that pulls you in and has you feeling as if you are joining the characters for a drink on their rooftop terrace in NYC with them. I could not put this book down and cannot wait for the next in the series. Highly recommended!

I started this series with installment #3 because this is the type of series that allows you to do that. You can come and go with no confusion. I loved #3 which was themed perfectly for the holiday time in which I read it. Afterwards, I found the first two installments and quickly got started. Sleepless in Manhattan wasn't quite as enjoyable as #3 in my personal opinion, but it was a solid contemporary romance with surprising layers. The hero is plagued by a dysfunctional perception of relationships due to poor modeling on his parents' part. The heroine has been in significant medical treatment the majority of her life which caused her character to have some interesting complexities. This is a friends to lovers romance, but as you can see, it's not that simple. Given the complicated characters, I felt that they were still portrayed fairly superficially but I can recognize that this is not intended to be a literary fiction nor a boring case study. It's a steamy but humorous romance, so superficial is sometimes allowed and happily overlooked. I did very much enjoy Sleepless in Manhattan and am excited to continue on to #2...and yes, probably #3 (again :P). My favorite quote: “Can we watch something romantic for a change?” “I was thinking horror.” Matt typed a reply to one of his emails. “Silence of the Lambs, or maybe some Stephen King-” “No way!” Eva recoiled. “I hate horror. Unless you want to wake up and find me shivering in your bed because I'm too scared to sleep alone, you'd better pick something else. No serial killers. No dead children. Those are my rules. Can we watch Sleepless in Seattle?” “Not unless the reason they're sleepless is because there's a serial killer on the loose.”

Check out the full review at Kritters Ramblings The first full book in the series, but the second story from this "world", but it is based on a different character than the first book. Paige Walker makes a brief appearance in the novella in the first book and she is the focus of this book. She thinks she is headed for a promotion and instead her and her two friends are laid off from an event planning company - where she actually loved her job, maybe not her boss, but at least the job. After a moment to breath and take in the news, she decides to open her own company and with the help of her friends, her brother and a long time crush business is open and love may be in the air! Like all romance books, this one can be predicted from page one and as I have said before that is just fine with me! I don't mind that I knew where we would end up at the end, but the journey is always fun and enjoyable.

Favorite Quotes: I can't help feeling a little despondent that the condom in my purse has passed its expiry date. I feel as if she's the Great White Shark at the top of the food chain and I'm a little seal she's going to eat in one mouthful. It was hard to hide from someone who knew all your secrets. It felt like an invasion of privacy, as if she'd given him a key that he'd refused to return. Embarrassment burned through her like acid on metal. Being around him made her feel like a gawky, clumsy teenager, all hormones and no finesse. You always tease me, but I understand men better than you think... If they can't drill a hole in it, have sex with it, get drunk on it, kick it around a field, or watch it on a massive screen, they're mostly not interested. That's the way the male brain is programmed. You invented drama. You could marry drama, have its babies - which, by the way, would be called Crisis and Panic - and live happily ever after. ...when I'm with a woman, I'm with a woman. She is my starter, my main course and my desert. There are no side dishes. My Review: Sleepless in Manhattan is my first Sarah Morgan read, how is that when she has over seventy books under her listing? But I plan to remedy my folly by continuing on with more books in this series, as I adored this book from start to finish. The writing was crisp and simply stellar. The dialogues were witty and snappy, and the storyline and narrative were emotive, deliciously steamy, cleverly amusing, and engrossing. I remained engaged throughout this delightful tale and loved all the quirky characters, even when they were being difficult. I am more than eager to dive into books two and three that feature the other two friends of this tight-knit group.

Paige Walker has been in love with her brother's best friend Jake Romano for what feels like her whole life. She expressed her feelings once, as a teenager, and was politely rejected, and has hidden those feelings since. Paige, and her two best friends, after being fired from their jobs, open their own business. Jake and her brother, both successful business owners, pitch in with advice, but it's not until Jake hires Paige's events coordinating business to throw a party for his company does their business and their feelings take off. This trope of girl falling for her brothers best friend is not new. However, Sarah Morgan writes a charming, sweet and fun romance that was enjoyable to read. Paige's feelings of wanting to success without the help of anyone, I think is something that most of us can relate to, and who hasn't had a crush on their brothers best friend? I was a little younger (8 or 9), but I can remember following my brothers friend David around intruding on their frog catching. Something that my sister brings up occassionally, but thankfully not often. Unlike Jake, he never returned my feelings, but it's a dream that probably most of us had at some point in our young lives. In Sleepless in Manhattan, we get to live that dream through Paige and Jake, and actually find out why he rejected her when she was young. We can also relish it more when they get together. If you want to relive your childhood crush through Paige and Jake, but also relish a happy ending, pick up a copy of this book. This is the first in the series, From Manhattan with Love.

SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN is such a fun, sweet and feel good story, the kind that lights you up from the inside and makes you feel really optimistic about love, friendship and everything good. And it's the perfect way to escape into the magic of New York City, the land of bright lights and endless possibilities. Paige Walker is determined to live her life on her own terms, even if it means starting her own business with her friends on a wing and a prayer, even if it means asking for help from her brother's best friend, successful entrepreneur and playboy Jake Romano and even if it means confessing her love to him, again, even if he throws it back in her face, again. Jake Romano doesn't believe in love but he can't deny the chemistry between him and Paige. He's no choirboy, and he's fought long and hard to keep her at a distance, even damaging the easy friendship between them but having her in such close proximity has worn down his ability to resist her. Even though he knows the complications of getting involved with her, especially because she is his best friend's younger sister. After a long week, this was exactly what I needed to perk me up and it actually felt like the switch turned on to summer and all the fun that comes with it as I read. Ms. Morgan does a really great job with the characters and a very familiar trope. From the eclectic mix of personalities - the dreamer, the organizer and the pragmatic - to the complex relationship between Paige and Jake and everything behind it, every page is pure pleasure to read. The friendship between Paige and her best friends and among all five of them is central to this book just as much as the romance between Paige and Jake is. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the rest of the series. With enjoyable characters, witty dialogue and the glitz and glamour of New York City as the backdrop for a sexy romance, SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN should be at the top of everyone's summer reading list. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Sleepless in Manhattan is such an entertaining book filled with laugh, tears and every emotion in between. Sarah Morgan creates characters that you can relate to, you cheer them on and feel like you know them. This is the story of Paige and Jake. Paige grew up with heart problems and had to have surgeries when she was a child and teen. Jake is Paige's brother's best friend. Paige has had a crush on him since she was a teen but Jake rejected her advances because he doesn't believe in love and he was protecting her. When Paige and her friends are fired from their job, Jake convinces them to start their own concierge company. Jake helps get the company started and as they work together, Jake and Paige grow closer. Their relationship turns to an affair but they have to decide if their feelings are enough for an everlasting love. This is a great story with a bonus story from a minor character.

This is the first book of the new trilogy From Manhattan with Love. 3 best friends embrace life and love in NY City. This book is about Paige Walker. Paige is an event planner. Her childhood was spent in and out of hospitals with a medical condition. She is laid back, patient, and capable. She also loves a good challenge. She wants to prove herself by capturing everyone in Manhattan by storm. When she loses the job she loves, though, she must face her largest task of all. She has to go it on her own by starting up her own business. Launching her own events company is nowhere near the complicated feat as hiding her extreme crush on Jake Romano. Jake is not only her brother's best friend, he is New York's most eligible bachelor. He is also the only man that ever broke Paige's heart. Jake offers Paige's young company a big chance by letting them use one of the offices in his building. The chemistry the once had still buzzes and it starts giving Paige sleepless nights. Jake has trust issues brought on by his mother during his childhood. He doesn't believe in a forever kind of future with a woman. Paige is not sure she can make a believer out of Jake when he trusts no one with his heart. Loved this first story of the trilogy. I enjoy how their younger selves evolve into who they are now. That they can take a chance on each other as well as themselves. I can't wait for the rest of the trilogy!

LOVED this book! What a great start to what promises to be a fantastic series. This is Paige and Jake's story. Paige has had some real trials in life. Poor health had her in and out of hospitals when she was younger and she's just getting her footing and really starting to enjoy life. Then suddenly she finds herself and her 2 best friends out of a job. She's always wanted to be an event planner so now seems like the perfect time to start her own business. The going is tough and when she's given a huge opportunity from none other than Jake Romano, her brothers best friend, what else can she do but accept. Besides her family the one constant in her life has been Jake. He's always been there for her and she loves him with everything she is. Too bad the feelings are not reciprocated. He's broken her heart once and she fears it's going to happen again unless she can convince him to take a chance! This is a fantastic read and one I highly recommend.

This is an exceptional start to what promises to be another wonderful series! This was a light and breezy romance that swept me through until I couldn't believe I had read most of the night. Paige, Eva, and Frankie worked for an Event Planner and were fired but this is the best thing that could have happened to them because it finally meant that Paige stepped up and started her own business which is what she always wanted to do. The fact that Jake kinda pushed her into it us just the frosting on the cake. It was fun to watch these two stumble and fall and READ THE BOOK to find out what happens! (It is definitely worth it and I recommend this one!) I am excited about this series and looking forward to the next one to see what happens next. **Received this book in exchange for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun read that kept me interested. I couldn't help feeling for what Paige went through as a kid and how it shaped her life and her families. It truly shows how when one person in a family is ill, it affects everyone. I'm glad that Paige grew up strong and was able to finally make her life away from her family, and have a little independence that she sorely needed. When Paige loses her job she pulls herself up and takes charge of her life and becomes her own boss. A big move, but one she's ready for. You'll really enjoy how both Paige and Jake grow. Because Jake is Paige's brother Matt's friend he is taboo to her, and vice versa. But somethings the heart wants what the heart wants. Of course at times I wasn't always a fan of Jake's attitude, but as the book progressed he got better. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this enjoyable series. While Sarah Morgan has been on my TBR list for quite some time, I hadn't had the chance to read one of her books until I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sleepless in Manhattan. After reading this first book in her new series I can honestly say that I've been missing out. I intend to read as many of her past books as I possibly can and of course all of her future releases. This book has a little bit of everything. It is sweet, heartwarming, sexy, steamy and even funny. I absolutely fell in love with all the characters. I loved the relationship between all of them. It was fun to watch Paige and Jake's relationship evolve. Especially, watching Jake come to grips of his feelings for Paige. I had a hard time putting the book down. The story flowed, keeping me hooked and like I was part of the story. It is a fantastic story of family, friendships and love. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book.

This is the first book in the From Manhattan With Love series. I loved this book! It was such a great story of friendship and love! Paige, Eva and Frankie have been best friends since school. Now we get to follow them as they find love and success in New York. This book is about Paige and Jake. Jake is just plain swoon worthy so I know why Paige crushed on him! I would definitely recommend this book! I can't wait for the next book! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Sleepless In Manhattan,  Sarah Morgan Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance  My first Sarah Morgan book was the wonderful Christmas Ever After, so I was really looking forward to this story. Sarah is a prolific author, though a new one for me, and I was hoping this would have that magic thread of drama and HEA that I so loved in Christmas...sadly though it was a fun story, full of real characters and problems, and a bit of heat it just didn’t hit the spot for a great read for me. Still, that’s how it goes, what one readers enjoys doesn’t work for another. I enjoyed the characters here, but they did feel a little “in the box” stereo-typed. Eva the incurable romantic, Frankie, who didn’t believe in romance at all, and then Paige. Paige was very ill as a child/teen and thus her family and Jake have always been overprotective of her. She wants Jake, has loved him for years yet he won’t make a move, even when she gave him an open chance when she was 18....Jake wants her he says, and yet he’s been happy enough to while away his time with endless models, quick flings, one month wonders at the most, and doesn’t exactly pine after her. I didn’t really feel any chemistry between them for a long while, and that kind of let it down for me. In Christmas I could feel that sizzle even though they both were sort of at each others throats, but here Jake treats Paige like a little sister, snarking and arguing with her each time they meet, and I didn’t get the sense their was unfinished business between them, that they really wanted each other badly. The story plays out well, the events they plan sounded great and I enjoyed all the descriptions of them, but the romance – well, it was a bit too pat for me, a bit too sweet and lacked any real drama. Even when there was a downside it didn’t last long. If you like a sweet romance,an even paced and relatively gentle one with a HEA you’ll love this, but it lacked the drama for me to lift it from a good read to a great one.   Stars: Three, a good story just not a great one for me. I loved Sleepless in Manhattan! The friendship between Paige, Eva, Frankie, Matt and Jake is genuine and cozy. I love that they have weekly get-togethers that include movie night. This is a close-knit group of friends that find a way to make everything work even when situations get awkward. The ending was absolutely perfect! I love the witty quotes from Paige, Eva and Frankie at the beginning of each chapter. There is humor throughout the book that kept me laughing and smiling. I really enjoyed the bonus story of Midnight at Tiffany's. This short story is about Matilda and Chase falling in love. Sarah Morgan writes the perfect romance. I look forward to Sunset in Central Park. **I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.**

Paige Walker has been in love with Jake Romano for years but ever since she bared herself, literally, to him as a teenager and he rebuffed her she's kept all her emotions guarded with men. When Paige and her two best friends lose their jobs they decide, with Jake's urging, to open their own event planning business. Even though he avoids close contact with her he still comes through with help and advice for them. Since his best friend is Paige's brother he is always on guard with his feelings. This is a story of love, friendship and life in the big city for three single women. I love this story. Aside from the romantic angle it's a beautiful story of true friendship. I can't wait to read Eva and Frankie's stories. Sleepless In Manhattan will leave you feeling good and hopeful that there is a silver lining behind every dark cloud. I highly recommend reading this book as soon as you can.

I loved this story. Manhattan is the backdrop for a wonderful trio of close friends and co-workers who strike out on their own. The relationships they form are strong and caring. Every character feels real and was entertaining reading. The dialogue was sharp, funny and very real. I look forward to the next 2 stories in this series. I completely enjoyed my trip to NYC.
