Norah and Darcy's detective agency, Partners in Crime, is taking on new and chilling case. The girls' classmate, Maya, is hearing strange, crackling voices coming over the baby monitor while she's babysitting late at night. Maya is worried someone might be in danger.

To help investigate, Norah and Darcy join her for a sleepover stakeout. In between eating snacks and watching TV, the girls are on high alert for anything suspicious. Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
Best friends Norah Burridge and Darcy Carter started the Partners in Crime detective agency shortly after entering seventh grade. Their first case introduced them to Fiona Fanning who is now a member of the group. They easily solve their second case—tailing a possibly cheating boyfriend—but their third case proves harder. Why is shy Maya's infant brother's baby monitor picking up weird conversations of people in distress? In addition to figuring out that the trouble is that bullies are picking on younger kids as an initiation test, Norah and her friends have to deal with the usual kid stuff. Norah starts having trouble reading what her teachers have written on the board. She squints a lot and makes mistakes that lower her grades. Her science teacher suggests she see an eye doctor. Sure enough, she needs glasses. Darcy is upset about getting braces until she discovers she can get purple colored ones. But Darcy seems to be upset about almost everything and Norah doesn't know how to help her. In the meantime, Norah becomes closer to Fiona and also befriends Maya. She discovers Zane Munro, the boy she has a crush on feels the same about her. When she goes to tell Darcy her good news, the girls have a huge fight and end up not speaking to each other. Stay tuned for the next book in the series to see if they become BFFs again and whether Partners in Crime can prove who framed Zane for the burning of the brand new Field House. It's nice the kids are from different ethnic backgrounds and have different interests, but can still be friends. Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan

This isuch a well written book! This is book us good for all ages! It captures the adventure excitment for the younger kids and the romance aspect for the teens. Me and my sister both live this book. Shes 10 and im 13. The first and third books are also really good. Rember not to judge a book by its civer because what may look childish or directed to another audience could be your next favorite book!!
