Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
As Superman's pet, Super Turtle has the same super powers as his master. He is called upon in this episode to solve the mystery of Streaky's excessive sleepiness. Streaky is Super Girl's pet cat who has been nicknamed Cat of Steel. Crime in the neighborhood is up. The rodent robbers have taken over. Super Turtle knows that something is very wrong. Super Turtle notices a horrible scent coming from Streaky's open bag of Kitty Krunchalongs. The snack food has an evil ingredient. Grabbing the open bag, Super Turtle flies to the LexCorp building. Using his heat vision, he whooshes inside and discovers Ignatius Iguana, pet of Super Villain Lex Luthor, working in a lab. Super Turtle spots the red goo that Ignatius is adding to the bags of cat treats. He must retreat into his shell to protect himself and when he emerges he discovers that Ignatius has placed the sleeping Streaky in a rocket and is preparing for blast off. Super Turtle and Streaky, of course, manage to foil Ignatius' evil scheme and all ends happily. Colorful cartoon illustrations contribute to the fast action plot. The opening pages of the book introduce the characters in this story. Closing pages have head shots of 40 Hero Pets and 40 Villain Pets in this extensive series. Also includes a table of contents and a glossary. Part of the "DC Super Pets" series. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.
