Slices of My Life: So Far
This memoir is a carefully selected array of blogs and journal entries recalling events that occurred during the first 50 years of a life well examined and usually happily lived. All the stories are true as far as the memory can be trusted to recall events accurately and as true as interpretations of events allow. That someone else could have an identical experience and reach an entirely different conclusion is not disputed. This is simply one writer's look at the world through smudged and sometimes misty or fogged up windows of the soul. Many of the stories relate wildlife encounters. Some of these encounters are pretty straightforward, while others are interpreted as more mystical and archetypal, though they are always based on actual events that took place during the author's life. The tales are sometimes humorous, sometimes self-indulgent, but always told with an open heart and a conversational style.

About the Author

Beth Mitchum is currently living back in Central Florida. She lived in the Seattle area from 1993 to 2010. When she moved there, she was able to say, for the first time in her life, that she felt at home. Although she has lived in multiple places all around the Seattle area, her favorite nesting spot was on the Kitsap Peninsula, where she has been able to enjoy waterfront living and bald eagle watching for most of the time she’s been there. Before moving to Seattle, she spent eight years in the Asheville, North Carolina area, a place of great beauty and folk art culture. The thing she misses most about living there is the great community of lesbians. She could walk into Malaprops (a most excellent bookstore) in downtown Asheville and be guaranteed to run into several lesbians, many of whom she’d already know. Before moving to North Carolina in 1985, she lived in Lakeland, Florida, where she attended college, landed her first great job, and found the first of many really cool living spaces. Beth grew up in Winter Park, Florida, a uniquely European style city in the heart of Central Florida.
