Overview

Shopaholic meets Stephanie Plum in the fourth novel of the wickedly funny series featuring paralegal-turned-crime-fighter Finley Anderson Tanner.

Kidnapping is so last season.

Couture-conscious paralegal Finley Anderson Tanner knew it was risky to break her cardinal shopping rule—never pay full price—for a last-minute date with her gorgeous new boss, but the hidden costs of her little black dress have put her whole life in the red. After the romantic evening turns into a disaster thanks to impossibly sexy and utterly infuriating private eye Liam McGarrity, Finley finds herself down two thousand dollars and out two potential boyfriends. Naturally, she turns to eBay.

To help pay off her debt, she tries to sell the vintage pageant jewelry she received for doing law partner Ellen Lieberman a favor. But when Finley’s best friend abruptly disappears while helping to wrap up the auction, Finley fears the worst. Does frumpy Ellen have a sinister double life as a beauty queen? Is the auction’s high bidder, Tiara64, more suspicious than her name suggests? Can Finley possibly hunt for clues without irresistible Liam swooping in to bail her out of trouble . . . again? Rhonda Pollero’s hilarious new novel featuring fashionista crime-fighter Finley Anderson Tanner is the must-have mystery of the season.

Publishers Weekly
Finley Anderson Tanner, a West Palm Beach, Fla., paralegal with a penchant for drama and a love for designer labels, is back and looking for love and a missing person in Pollero’s fourth installment in the F.A.T. series. Equally enamored with rough-and-tumble PI Liam McGarrity and law firm partner Tony Caprelli, shallow but good-hearted Finley is forced to weigh her options when pushed by her meddling mother to find a date to take to Finley’s sister’s wedding. As if choosing a man weren’t enough, Finley’s boss Ellen abruptly quits and disappears, leaving a mysterious bag of clothing and jewelry for Finley to get rid of. Suspecting no foul play, Finley gladly sells the jewelry on eBay to finance her own purchases. However, when best friend Becky also disappears after helping sell the goods, Finley realizes something is amiss. Taking it upon herself to investigate their disappearances, Finley discovers that Ellen is not who she appears to be, and what began as an auction for costume jewelry has put several lives on the line. Readers who delight in luxury brand names, skinny women, and studly men will adore this light romp, but readers looking for a serious mystery or compelling character development will want to look elsewhere. Kirkus Reviews
A trust-fund reject fights a crush on her hot boss by developing an even bigger crush on an even hotter private investigator. Finley Anderson Tanner's work as a paralegal leaves her plenty of time for after-work margaritas with best friends Becky, Jane and Liv. And if it means that her snooty mom, the much-married Cassidy Presley Tanner Browning Rossi, decides to cut off her older child's access to the family fortune, Finley (Knock Off, 2007, etc.) just makes up the difference by buying pre-owned Lilly Pulitzers. Even comparisons with her oncologist younger sister Lisa don't faze Finley, at least not until Lisa decides to marry fellow oncologist David Huntington-St. John IV. Now Finley's in a bind. Who should she invite to the nuptials? Her supervisor Tony Caprelli has made it clear that he likes her, second-hand Jimmy Choos and all. But Tony, hunk that he is, is Cassidy's favorite for the role of escort. So to spite her mother, Finley naturally asks even sexier Liam McGarrity, who like her is a paid minion at her firm, working as an investigator rather than as a litigator. And an overnight stay at the Ritz might give Finley a chance to seal the deal with Liam, who despite numerous liplocks and full body caresses has yet to succumb to her charms. The sudden departure of Ellen Lieberman, an attorney who bugs her almost as much as Cassidy to chuck the paralegal stuff and go to law school, gives Finley a moment's concern. But between selling some of Ellen's old costume jewelry on eBay, shopping for lingerie with Tony's 13-year-old daughter Izzy and obsessing over Liam, Finley barely has time to pack her slightly irregular Fendi bag before she's off to Atlanta and a whiff of kidnapping. Lots of shopping, lots of steam, and if you don't blink, you might catch the mystery.

Loving Finley's latest mess and how she gets out of it. I can't get enough of this series! She's smarter than she and everyone else believes. Funny and smart!

I have been hooked on this series since the beginning. Although I didn't find this book as funny as the previous ones it was an enjoyable read with a pretty good surprise at the end. I think it's time to see some background on Liam come to light and I believe that might happen in the next book - of which I eagerly await! I want to encourage Mrs. Pollero to write faster. And not to be a backseat writer but could you please, please let Finley get in one or two good shots to her mother - I can guarantee I will cheer out loud no matter where I am lol!

I LOVED READING THIS HILARIOUS BOOK!!!! MY FIRST BOOK BY AUTHOR RHONDA POLLERO, AND I MUST SAY A HAD A GREAT TIME READING IT. THE CAT AND MOUSE CHASE AND THE BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN FINLEY AND LIAM, HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. I WAS SOOO READY FOR THEM TO HOOK UP, LOL. ALL THE EBAY WATCHING, AND THEN GETTING DESIGNER CLOTHING FOR LITTLE TO NOTHING BECAUSE OF THEM BEING SLIGHTLY DAMAGE, AND THEN PRAYING NO ONE NOTICE WAS FUNNY. REALLY AN EASY AND QUITE SURPRISING READ. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. HAPPY READING..........

Good read. Over use of the word cute. Cute is used to describe five year olds NOT adults or clothing.
