BED OF BONES (Sloane Monroe Series #5)

Sometimes even the deepest, darkest secrets find their way to the surface…

Summer 1956

Thirteen-year-old Willie Compton and his younger brother Leonard stumble upon a mine shaft while hiking the hills of Park City, Utah. The shaft is unsealed, abandoned. While Leonard stares at the hole in wonderment, a Slinky he’s been flipping back and forth between his hands slithers through his fingers, tumbling toward the mouth of the shaft. Leonard bolts forward, reaches out to grab it, but he slips, then he falls.

Present Day

Up-and-coming filmmaker Melody Sinclair stirs in her chair, nervously awaiting the debut of her film at the Sundance Film Festival. Based on a true story, Bed of Bones tells a tale of murder, shining a big, bold light on Park City’s tragic past. A past that’s about to revisit the present.

Editorial Reviews

Author of Justice series - Mel Comley
Another Sloane Monroe story that readers will have a problem putting down.
Author of The Lost Journal - Chris Blewitt
Page-turning from the first chapter to the last, Stranger in Town brings fiction to the edge of reality.
Author of the Angel Murphy series - Gerry McCullough
Sloane reminds me a little of Kinsey Millone in Sue Grafton's Alphabet series, and that's a serious compliment. I don't mean to suggest that Bradshaw has borrowed anything from Grafton - just that Sloane is not an over the top, unbelievable character, but is someone we might feel we could meet walking down the street, natural and likeable.

Meet the Author

Born and raised in Southern California, Cheryl Bradshaw became interested in writing at a young age, but it was almost two decades before she put pen to paper. In 2009 Bradshaw wrote Black Diamond Death (Book One: Sloane Monroe series). Within six weeks it entered the top 100 in two different categories and remained in the top 100 for over a year. Since that time, Bradshaw has written five additional novels in the series. In 2013, Bradshaw introduced a new paranormal thriller series: Addison Lockhart, the first book titled Grayson Manor Haunting.

Bradshaw is the founder of IWU on Facebook. In August 2012, Bradshaw was named one of Twitter's seven best authors to follow. In 2013, Bradshaw's novel, Stranger in Town, was chosen as a Shamus Award finalist in the category of best P.I. novel of the year. She was the only female nominated in her category.

    more from this reviewer

These two books in the Sloane Monroe series are both great novel

These two books in the Sloane Monroe series are both great novels for all the same reasons as the first three books. A strong lead character in Sloane, excellent character development in her and others who regulars such as Maddie, and exciting story lines that keep the reader on edge. Whether it is the frantic search for missing girls in "Stranger In Town" or the fascinating link between murders years apart in "Bed of Bones", both stories will have you sucked in from the start.

If you have read the first three stories in the Sloane Monroe series, you will want to pick these up to continue. If you haven't read them these are great to get you introduced to the world of Sloane. A warning, however: once you enter, you will want to read them all and then eagerly await the next one. Ms. Bradshaw has started a terrific series and I am glad to have hopped aboard.

    Quite Entertaining and Readable

Though these two books covered a lot of pages, I enjoyed reading about Sloane Monroe--a woman investigator who lives in Arizona. The setting is just so different from ours in Northeast PA. She works primarily by herself, but is intelligent, and not hindered by a partner or love interest, so none of that interminable sex passages. This would be for a thoughtful reader. I haven't read any other Cheryl Bradshaw that I can recall. The length of these is probably beyond the interest of a book group.

    NP...Outstanding writer.

An excellent series worth reading. I just wish Giovanni and Sloane would have been able to stay together. I think they made a great and interesting couple which could have been further developed. Regardless, a great story worth reading.
