Anyone who ...
Anyone who has ever resented a parent's manipulation or, even once, thought about leaving a marriage will find Sheila's dilemma a compelling one. Harried career women. sandwich generation moms, and anyone wondering how they strayed so far from their real selves will identify with Sheila's long-repressed spirit as it embarks on the slow dance of connecting with the person she once was.

Melissa McDaniel masterfully unfolds the inevitable domino effect of a domineering mother. Sheila Branford, the daughter, embarks on a carefully planned journey to extricate herself from a husband she never loved and the whims of her manipulative mother. Although Sheila finds the true love she has always yearned for, her journey is frought with obstacles. Between a rock and a hard place, Sheila leaves her two young children with their father. But, because of her courage and unflappable determination, her sweet children are not lost to her. In the end, Sheila gets her man and simultaneously retains the love of her children. Sheila chose to shed the cloak of the 'Stepford Wife!' Would any of us in the same predicament have the same steely resolve to save themselves? Bravo, Sheila! Was this review helpful?
