I really enjoyed Slow Ride, the 5th book in Erin McCarthy's Racing series. I have read the others in this series and had expected to like it as much as the others and it didn't disappoint! I was sucked in from the 1st page. I felt the pain Tuesday felt at the loss of her beloved father , the grief of what might have been, the floundering of how to deal with the emotions that the loss had left. Then she becomes aware of Diesel Lange, an injured, retired racecar driver. Diesel is floundering in his own life thinking that he is fine with not sharing his emotions. When the two get together things really turns hot!! The love scenes are scorching and there are quite a few of them. How they deal with their situations together is a tricky mix. But love conquers all in the end. I loved seeing the others from the series. The new addition of Ryder and Suzanne's baby. The truth of Evan and Kendall's baby paternity. The update of Tammy and Elec's lives. And Ty and Imogen's upcoming wedding plans. Now comes the long wait for the next story!! And I'm anxiously waiting!

Ms. McCarthy keeps writing winners with her "Fast Track" series! This is the 5th, I believe, in this series and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. I have lost sleep because I just can't put it down. You have gotten a taste of Tuesday in the previous novels that proceed this one, but you can get a feel for her from the first chapter if you haven't read any of these novels before. You can feel her heartbreak, sorrow and grief at the death of her much loved father and you can't help but want her to have her own happy ending to make up for her loss. When she meets Diesel Lange, the chemistry just takes over. He is the perfect man for her. He's had it all and experienced great loss in his life. Together, they learn to experience life instead of dwelling on what they have lost. This is a must read.

Erin McCarthy takes us on another lap around the track in her next Fast Track Novel, Slow Ride. Tuesday Jones has grown up around the racetrack all her life. She knows all the ins and outs of the sport and loves writing about the men and women of the sport. Her professional life is going well but after the death of her beloved father she is reeling. Her dad meant the world to her and nothing she does is making the pain go away. Not even meeting legendary driver Daniel ¿Diesel¿ Lange is helping. Daniel ¿Diesel¿ Lange driving career came to a halt after a life altering crash. He now spends his time rebuilding cars and staying away from driving. He is intrigued by the spit fire know as Tuesday Jones. He senses a like sadness in her and wants to help. Diesel and Tuesday start an exhilarating romance that sends sparks flying. Neither can get enough of each other. But Tuesday¿s overwhelming grief may derail the romance before it even takes hold. But Diesel knows a good thing when he sees it and will pull out all the stops to make Tuesday see that what they have is real. Slow Ride is another winner for Erin McCarthy. It¿s a fast paced all out sexy and emotional story that will grab you from the first page. It¿s an added treat to keep revisiting past characters to catch up with them. Erin McCarthy is a writer that is an auto buy for me for her sexy, fun stories.

Hysterical at her father's funeral, former racing driver Daniel "Diesel" Lange provides a shoulder for Tuesday Jones to weep in. She thought her dad would beat cancer like he did other incidents in his life; but finds it ironic that her father's favorite driver attended his burial; though he actually was there for his cousin Pete Briggs who died in a crash. Diesel gives Tuesday solace as he says it will get better in time before limping away; showing the remnants of the wreck that broke his neck forcing him to retire. At a wedding in which she is the maid of honor, Tuesday gets drunk. Diesel is there too so he takes her home as he understands that with her grief comes a special grace. They are attracted to one another, but the timing is off. She grieves her loss and fears the kind ex driver is a convenience while he has issues with his battered body and deaths in his family so is not ready for more than a fling. Neither can prevent the heated encounters, but both refuse to explore their feelings. The latest Fast Track romance (see The Chase and Hot Finish) stars two fascinating protagonists struggling with recent traumas. Whereas hers is emotional with her loss; his is emotional and physical with his losses. Fast-paced yet tender, readers will enjoy going around the track with Diesel and Tuesday are our drivers.

In Slow Ride, Tuesday is dealing with the death of her father and having a hard time dealing with her feelings. This snarky journalist does not want to show the world the soft woman inside hurting so badly. Diesel is also dealing with grief for his career and his dwindling family members. Diesel has problems sharing his feelings and is very laid back and Tuesday is more abrasive and is making mistakes with the way she handles her own feelings (alcohol). Flaws aside, Tuesday and Diesel's personalities match up very well together added to a very strong attraction and they decide to see where it takes them. Tuesday and Diesel are both a little commitment shy but are too happy together to let it bother them too much. But avoiding conversations about their little problems lead to larger problems and they are both a little fragile at this point in their lives. Tuesday's grief is real. And her drinking problems were real as well. It does not start off with a bang and problems that arise because of her actions are well explained and understood. She just lost a parent that meant a great deal to her and she is not sure how she is supposed to be reacting and kind of loses herself. Diesel is no stranger to pain, both physical and emotional. His mother left him with his Aunt and Uncle when he was young. His brother and cousin (basically another brother) are dead. He cannot drive anymore professionally due to his injuries from a career ending wreck recently. They needed each other. They have a lot of chemistry, out of the sheets and in. They have real problems, but not the kind that hurt each other. Just communication mostly- which worked with the story so well since they both had so much to get through emotionally that anymore drama or misunderstandings would have ruined the couple. The big climax that brought the couple to the boiling part was a little heartbreaking. The issues were all brought out into the open and I loved that the couple did not forgive and forget right on the spot. Some real growth was made and this was one story where you *know* the couple is forever. And for Fast Track fans waiting for updates on previous drama for certain other FT couples, the wait is over! There is a scene for Kendal and Evan, for Ryder and Suzanne, and updates on Ty and Elec's marriages as well. You do not want to miss this installment!

Tuesday Jones is a gossip blogger for the stock car racing scene who meets retired stock car racer Diesel Lange.  Neither want to commit to a relationship so plan on one or two dates.  They are both surprised when they want more of a relationship. Slow Ride is a bit different from the previous Fast Track books in that this one doesn't take place at the track but is more about the relationship and personal demons of Tuesday and Diesel. I loved this book for the third or so but then it became less interesting with Tuesday's depression and constant drinking when she was feeling down.  I have read and liked all the Fast Track novels before this one and thought this was going to be just as good as the others but I must admit that I was disappointed in the last half of the book. There were a lot of sex scenes in this novel which were well done but seemed to take place instead of having a plot to the story. McCarthy's writing is terrific and very descriptive.  Unfortunately, I did't want to know quite so clearly how badly Tuesday behaved and felt when she was drinking, or when Diesel and Tuesday were having sex.

Tuesday Jones, sports writer and racing blogger, recently lost her father to cancer. She understands that she makes bad decisions in her life, especially when it come to her emotions and wine. However when she meet Daniel "Diesel" Lange, she knows this is a bright spot in her darkest days. Diesel Lange was forced to retire from racing two years ago due to a horrific accident that could have killed him. Luckily the worst of his problems now is a bad knee that he occasionally has to take pain meds for. To pass the time he restores old stock cars in his home garage. When he meets Tuesday he is immediately smitten by her outgoing personality but he's unsure if she's too much for him. Erin McCarthy's Fast Track series gets better and better with each book released and Slow Ride is no exception to that. Tuesday and Diesel are very easy characters to relate to. I saw parts of myself in both of them. The story was much better because it didn't actually have to do with a current driver. It helped, I think, because the drama was between the two was self-inflicted and had nothing to do with "the job." Overall, the book was enjoyable. It was fast, easy, and just plain old sexy
