I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the Animalations&rs

I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the Animalations’ book, Sly the Dragonfly. This book is highly entertaining with beautifully illustrated pages and flowing music that you can’t help but move your body to. But with the music and the beautiful artwork, the book has a message, and Sly’s message is clear. Sly doesn’t want to fly low to the ground like Levi and the other dragonflies. Sly wants to experience life by flying high and encourages Levi to do the same. Sly the Dragonfly is a great book with positive messages, but the main message is not to sit around letting life pass you by. Get out and enjoy life – reach for the sky!

A truly inspirational story about a dragonfly, Sly, that experie

A truly inspirational story about a dragonfly, Sly, that experiences life from way up high and teaches us all about the beauty in seeing the world in a new way! Levi the Eastside Dragonfly is convinced that his way of experiencing the world is best since he and his dragonfly friends “fly low and slow and just go with the flow.” Levi and his friends are curious about how Sly the Dragonfly could possibly enjoy flying so high in the sky. Sly explains “When I fly, nothing passes me by!” and “life is the way you fly.” Sly goes on to describe the ways in which his method of flying makes him happy to be alive. His account is so exciting that he eventually manages to recruit Levi and his friends to his way of living. Such a cute story with life lessons at its core.

"Life is the way you fly"

This message reminds me of my own childhood, when I tried to convince my little brother that playing baseball outside was much more fun than watching the afternoon cartoons. If I had this book when I was a kid, maybe I could have persuaded him. Perhaps I’ll send him a copy of Sly the Dragonfly and he can read it to his kids. Children need to be encouraged to live up to all of their potential - learning and having fun and being their wonderful selves. Like many of the animalations books, this one delivers everything that it promises.

Early Readers will Love Soaring with Sly!

Sly the dragonfly encourages children to do their best. Sly asks young readers to “get up and fly, don’t let life pass you by.”

Your children will quickly begin singing along to the memorable text and chuckling at the amusing graphics. You can't go wrong with adding this story to your young reader’s collection.

Sly the Dragonfly is a short story that encourages children to see the great things in life. It teaches them to be thankful for the things they have, and to not be wasteful with what they’ve been given. Sly loves to fly, and fly high. In the middle of his flying escapades he meets Levi the Eastside Dragonfly. Levi believes that Sly flying around all day is a waste of time. Levi just doesn’t understand why Sly likes to fly all of the time; trying to touch the sky. As they talk a little more, Sly explains to Levi that flying makes him happy. Sly flies because he can, and he helps Levi to see that he should appreciate the things he’s able to do, also. Levi realizes that he was never really flying, at all. He thanks Sly for showing him how to fly; how to appreciate life. This story sends a great message to all: life is what you make of it.

Sly the Dragonfly doesn't miss a thing- choosing to fly high up

Sly the Dragonfly doesn't miss a thing- choosing to fly high up in the sky to hear the music in the wind, and to allow his heart to wake up and sing. Talk about a tale that makes you want to go out and experience the world. Sly is a great role model for kids, teaching them to aim high and not settle for what's right in front of you. A great read for high fliers everywhere.

This story is super cute! It gives a great moral about daring to be who you were born to be and not being ashamed of it. Sly is happy to be happy and he is even happier to share his secret of happiness – doing his best and reaching for the sky – even when other’s question why he is the way he is. Any book I can get that helps me teach my kids self-confidence is a winner!

I know that all of my kids love bright and vivid colors. It wakes up their brains and draws then into what they are learning. This book has superb illustrations!
The iPad version of this is really cool. My granddaughter just swipes the screen and the page turns. She is only 3 so we used the ‘read to me’ option and the words are highlighted as the story is read aloud to her. The pages don’t simply turn either; they move up and down. The ‘play for me’ option sets the story to music and it’s uplifting, even for adults, to remember to reach for the sky.

My heart smiles when I finish reading or listening to Sly the Dr

My heart smiles when I finish reading or listening to Sly the Dragonfly. I want all the kids in my life to hear this message! The repetition really helps kids latch on to what is being said, and what better message for them to remember? The illustrations are very well done, and the story really does make a kid feel like he or she can fly.
