Overview

The goal of this book is to serve as a design/idea book. Our mantra is that simplicity leads to great results. Small Web Sites, Great Results will show readers basic strategy and introduce them to the philosophy of doing more with less. The book features design guidelines to make sites look professional even on a small scale, techniques to get the hits from search engines, and more. Users will learn to construct a holistic Web presence that garners real results. An added benefit of this concept is that along with the book there is a simple Web site system, a series of pages, and scripts which will accommodate the principles presented in the book. Users may go to the site, download the frameworks, and instantly post them for their own use.

"Small Web Sites, Great Results" promises to be the definitive book on the new movement of Web site design and creation that is sweeping the Internet, much in the same way "Looking Good in Print" became the classic on desktop publishing. The authors provide a treasure chest of insight, ideas, and design how-tos about how to make Web sites really work for a majority of small businesses and individuals who can benefit from a Web presence.

    Straightforward and Full of Ideas

A friend of mine who was building a website had this book, and I took a look at it. I have done some web design myself, and this had a lot of ideas that were very helpful. I like it because it doesn't give all the HTML technical side. It talks about what a web site should look like and how it should work for a user. Unless you are huge corporation, you probably are building a small website that needs to do just a few things. This book is great for that. It gives a lot of dos and a lot of dont's, and it has a lot of visual examples of both. Plus it narrows it down for specific types of businesses, like a restaurant or a doctor. I recommend it to anyone who wants to build a good website, whether you are a designer or just want to hire one and tell them what you want.
