    Good introductory book

Bailey does a wonderful job explaining many concepts of fitness without getting bogged down in technical jargon. He also dispels some myths and explains some fitness buzz-terms like 'carbo-loading' etc. He also stresses the importance of interpreting categorizations, advice, tests, etc properly based not only on one's age, weight, and body type but also on the fact that everyone is different in immeasurable ways. Start with this book, use it to help you find guidance, or just to satisfy your curiosity. However, f you're very scientifically inclined, or already somewhat knowledgeable about physiology and/or exercise, this book may leave you a bit unfulfilled.
