Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Leis-Newman
Sixth-grader Noah and his family have just moved, and both Noah and Jeopardy, his Shetland sheepdog, are having a hard time adjusting to their new town. Noah is constantly embarrassed by Jeopardy, and is reluctantly talked into going to a local agility class. But Noah learns that Jeopardy has more in common with him than he thinks. They are both smart but bored by school and home, respectively. By embracing the agility course and giving Jeopardy assignments (Noah creates an agility obstacle course in the basement), both dog and boy grow happier and make friends. The novel, part of the "Pet Trouble" series, will be a hit with older elementary school students who have dogs. While the author has a breezy style and dialogue that reflects real children, there are also positive messages about starting over, being friendly to new students, being stimulated in school, and making new friends. This edition includes an excerpt from the next book in the series, Bad to the Bone Boxer. Reviewer: Elizabeth Leis-Newman
