One day, Janice the mummy-cleaner suggests to Smelly Ghost that perhaps he try eating some creepy vegetables and spine-chilling fruit. What does he have to lose? He eagerly begins to munch on ghoul carrots and to nibble on slime bananas. And in the process, Smelly Ghost starts to feel more energetic and even floats higher and faster. Slowly but surely, the other Spooky Town inhabitants creep back toward Smelly Ghost, and he is soon playing with them every day. Smelly Ghost is an entertaining book that also encourages children to eat healthy, promoting not only a nutritious diet but also a healthy body and mind.

SMELLY GHOST is the story of a little ghost with bad eating habi

SMELLY GHOST is the story of a little ghost with bad eating habits. Smelly Ghost eats a lot of junk food, which upsets his tummy, resulting in the scary creatures in Spooky Town keeping their distance. I particularly enjoyed the names given to the junk food – slime cookies, fizzy snot soda and eyeball pizzas! Fortunately for Smelly Ghost, he gets some good advice and tries eating some fruit and vegetables to help cure his tummy aches. Again, the names of the food were great fun and will hopefully get a few giggles. The story gently encourages children to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Once Smelly Ghost puts his healthy eating plan into action, he starts to feel better and more energetic and isn’t so lonely anymore. Bethany Straker, as always, adds a touch of magic to the story with her outstanding illustrations. Each page delivers such wonderful imagination from both illustrator and author and will surely have readers poring over the details of each spread. SMELLY GHOST is super cute, delivers a good message, and is the perfect Halloween picture book with its oozing snacks and spooky monsters!
