Overview

Due to the success of The Sm;)e Book and demand for more, authors db Burkeman and Rich Browd invite you to celebrate the smiley face’s 60 year impact on art, music, pop and counter culture with the second book in the series, Sm;)e again... In the history of graphic design, there is no other symbol that has ever held such a duality—used simultaneously as both a positive mainstream driver and a counterculture subverter of that very mainstream. Sm;)e again... showcases an even more impressive collection of the world’s most potent visual communicators! Introduction from the legendary Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.

About the Author

Formally a rave and club DJ, DJ DB, DB Burkeman is often credited and (sometimes blamed) with bringing the subgenre of Jungle to the US. He first released drum & bass records and compilations for the label Sm:)e Communications before opening Breakbeat Science, which became ground zero for the scene. Now retired from nightlife, he’s making some noise in art & publishing by producing books on art, music and coutureculture under his full name.

Rich Browd is an artist – executive creative director and designer. His work lives in a unique place, somewhere between his urban influences and his design training with the International Type Center (ITC). The results have generated an array of award winning work for some of the world’s most influential brands.
