Hilarious that two obvious lesbians would try to write a book about how to pick up men. The book is so badly written one thinks it was done intentionally so - it rivals Tyra Banks magnum opus Modelland with the way it mangles the english language and its suggestions are laughable.
This book literally changed my life. I didn't realize that how much I compromise myself when dating, how much I'm trying to please the guy, and I'm subtly editing myself, until this reading Smitten. This book showed that it's possible to really actually be more me and it makes me more attractive. And it works! The writing is so colorful and evocative, and the authors are really funny. After reading it I was super excited to go out and ask quirky questions, show my intelligence, and even say smutty stuff in front of guys. And they are right, it only makes me more attractive. When I'm free ilke this guys suddenly ask for my number or say they want to see me again. Who knew? And why didn't anyone write this sooner?
The very few positive reviews that you may read concerning this waste of paper are written by one or both of the authors family members and or friends (case in point - a hilariously over the top positive review on Amazon came from one Olivia Anderson - who is the adopted sister of Simone Kornfeld) - do not waste your time with this piece of garbage - its so badly written and filled with such bad advice (which is strangely demeaning towards women.....) that it isn't even an amusing read.
OMG this book is an amazing combination of genius and hilarious! I especially related to the parts about rewiring yourself to attract kinder, more mature, more awesome men. Fave quotes: “The basis of the Smitten philosophy is, in fact, so firm, so reliable, and so unyielding that it has been deemed a law—the Law of Relationship. This pivotal law states: Every external relationship is based on the individual’s relationship to herself.” P. 23 Duh… if I’m treating myself like s**t, how am I gonna find a guy to treat me well? “The idea is to get clear on whether the guys you are drawn to help you live more fully, freely, and happily. If they don’t, it doesn’t mean they crawled up from the dungeons of hell and are awful, bastard people. It just means you have another opportunity to discern what it is about you that is drawing in such incompatible partners.” P. 43 So funny. And so true. One more… “Having the pluck to stand by what you believe is super-friggin’ sexy. It shows courage, confidence, and strength of character. What are you gonna do, cram yourself into a nice little box of yes’s just so he’ll like you? No way, man, free expression is the name of this game. He’s gonna like you because you’re ballsy and free, not because you’re a gutless yellow belly.” P. 123 AMEN!
