This edition of Rhino's Smooth Grooves series concentrates on songs that would be perfect for a weekend at a nightclub -- songs you can slow dance or groove to, not dancefloor ravers with a notable exception or two. Nearly half of the songs are from 1980, with many more dating between 1981 and 1984; the compilation dips back into the '70s for Ashford & Simpson's "It Seems to Hang On," People's Choice's "Do It Any Way You Wanna," and Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express" which may have been influential on this scene, but still sounds out of place.
