Overview

Psychiatrist Nancy Adler never thought she'd have a patient like Markus Johnson, a young black man who passes out randomly and has flashbacks of a past he can't remember and that contradicts the few things he knows about himself. Oh, and also, he's a porn star. Matters are further complicated by Gary Zimmerman, a retired detective who’s now a private investigator, who snoops into Johnson's past. Reaching into the depths of a porn star’s mind, Smut Central weaves a tale that’s at once disgustingly tantalizing and frighteningly demented.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - BookSmack!
Markus Johnson isn't quite sure of his age. He remembers leaving an orphanage when he was around nine years old, but before that is blank. Now in his early twenties and a rising porn star, he's suffering disturbing flashbacks. Smut Central Entertainment is grooming him for bigger and better things, but it's not good when he passes out during sex scenes. Proud of his handle "Mr. Excitement," Markus moves between women, especially hot-underneath-her-clothes psychiatrist Nancy Adler. As he cruises New York City trying to understand his jumbled past, he may not be able to handle the truth.Verdict McCalla's (Spot Grinders; Diamond Dynasty) latest is a bit schizophrenic, bouncing between hard-street lit loaded with plenty of grinding sex and a science fiction vibe involving weird hypnotism and mind control. Like many hookups, the sex is intense, but readers may walk away feeling unsatisfied. Rollie Welch, "The Word on the Street Lit", Booksmack! 10/21/10
