About the Author

Author Vic Mills is a California native. Born in 1942 in Los Angeles, he spent his formative years in Santa Cruz. However, he spent much of his adult life in the Pacific Northwest. In 1966, he moved to the Seattle area and worked for the city’s transit system prior to his induction into the Army.

It was from the Pacific Coast that Vic headed for Vietnam and his tour of duty as a military police officer, or M.P. His experiences there are chronicled in SNAFU, including confrontations with corrupt factions of our own military forces. His questioning of authority landed him a quick trip to the “hot zones” of that conflict.

The friendships forged there, as well as his ability to work with soldiers under fire, provided the framework for his narration of the daily grind of the M.P.

Upon his release from the military, Mills returned to the Seattle area where he makes his home. In 1984, he started a vehicle consulting firm and enjoys steering its continued success. Vic writes and occasionally performs his own music and he has a built-in audience: his three children and, at last count, seven grandchildren.

I ran the full gamut of emotions…one heck of a fine story—one that really needs to be told.

I recommend SNAFU highly to Vietnam War veterans and to non-veterans…It is most enlightening.
