Meet the Author

"Author of curiously engaging novellas. His stories are not driven by action but by mood and metaphysics. His premises often begin with fairly standard, often vaguely science-fiction concepts, but he spins those concepts out into melancholy, thoughtful tales in which he explores the emotion and (often) dislocation that people feel when confronted by something outside their normal experience." - Devon Kappa

    Not a satisfying read.

Despite having an intriguing title and synopsis, I didn't think it was anything special. The characters mannerisms were annoying and the book dragged on way to long. After reading through a lot of pointless plot, it didn't even have a satisfying ending.

    Got bored

I was extremely not impressed with this book. I quit reading after a while, the plot line is horribly dragged on and on until you think your head will explode. Really, eleven year olds find the need to collect bus maps? I could have formed better characters myself! I would say it is a very long, badly thought out childrens book. Skip this book, and save your sanity.

    Waste of reading time

I had to force myself to read this book all the way through. The intro was boring and the characters mundane and the ending left much to be desired. Blah

    I Also Recommend:

    Give It A Chance

I don't agree with some of the reviewers. I found this book to be highly imaginative and fun to read. The only thing that kind of got on my nerves is the outrageous rambunctiousness of Sapphire. The ten year olds' need for adventure and independence is reminiscent of Stand By Me. The author had me just as needful and demanding as the brothers Alex and Argus to learn mystery of Snapdragon Alley. The involvement of their presumed dead uncle only enriches the story further. Warning, the story ends abruptly, and leaves you hanging and full of wonder and questions, just like the characters. I'm hopeful that the sequel Freak City will shed more light on the subject.

    Good Short Read

an interesting read. Got me hooked but the ending left something to be desired but possibly that was the authors intent...

    Brigadoon for children

Not a bad read, great for a quick afternoon getaway. Rather reminisent of Brigadoon, only with children.

    Exciting

What a great tale for the young and old at heart. It seems there still is imagination in the world. I enjoyed.

    Nonreader continued Nonreader

My brother hardly EVER reads books, but this is one of the few that he loves and is currently reading. He will probably read all of the books in the trilogy!

    Good little story

Its only 124 pages because it starts over again and completely repeats the story again. ??? I enjoyed it though.
