About the Author

Kim Van Sickler is a former prosecutor who grew weary of the punitive nature of criminal law and more interested in the stories behind why people ended up in the situations they did. As a mother/stepmother of five children (three of them girls), and long-time Girl Scout volunteer, she is devoted to the concept of nurturing children in the real world. She thinks educating them about today's realities so they avoid sketchy situations is vastly superior to the alternative. Kim lives in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, with her husband, youngest daughter, and rescue dog, Peter.
