“I couldn't tear myself away until I'd read the last page. The writing is fast-paced and provocative as this highly talented author once again provides a stunning story.” — Old Book Barn Gazette

Is an uncomplicated divorce and a fresh start at forty too much to ask? Apparently it is for Lucy Narby, whose life goes from blah to bizarro when competing kidnappers lock horns in her kitchen. And really, does the victor have to be that hot? If this is the Stockholm syndrome, it sure didn’t take her long to catch it!

Lucy’s kidnapper calls himself Will but looks suspiciously like ’80s child TV star Ricky Baines, whose acting career was cut short when he himself was snatched and held for ransom 25 years ago in a notorious cold case that remains unsolved. Will’s gang includes an aging French bombshell, an outlandish Irish giant with a mysterious past, and long-lost Cousin Hal—a charming fellow who neglects to mention that he happens to be the twisted sociopath who kidnapped Will when he was still America’s favorite little star. Hal spent the past quarter century in the slammer for an unrelated murder, and now he’s out and determined to locate the $2 million ransom Will’s family paid. Someone else dug up the cash while Hal was behind bars, and that sort of thing tends to make twisted sociopaths a tad grouchy.

Fortunately (or not), Lucy’s bigamous ex is on the case. But so are a gay private eye in a fat suit and a bad-tempered parrot with an ax to grind, so no worries. Everyone has a secret and no one is who he seems when Kidnap Fever strikes.

I've been a Pamela Burford fan for years, and Snatched is defini

I've been a Pamela Burford fan for years, and Snatched is definitely the crown jewel of her work to date, a witty romantic suspense that's quite a bit longer than her previous books. All of her books are inflused with an undercurrent of humor that seems to just bubble out of the charactrers, but with Snatched, you find yourself laughing out loud at regular intervals. The story moves along at a cheerfully brisk clip, the mystery really keeps you guessing, and the characters... omigod, the most entertaining ensemble I can recall offhand. (My favorite is Quint, a parrot that cracks me up every time he opens his beak.) The attraction simmering between Lucy and her smoking-hot kidnapper, Will, is truly delicious--no one does sexual tension like Pamela Burford. Romantic suspense has never been such sheer, unadulterated fun. HIGHLY recommended!!!!

    A good read

A nice, clean storyline. Might be helpful if you wrote down the names of all the characters early on so that you don't forget who is whom.

    Like playing hop-scotch

This book hopped from one setting to another, from one storyline to another, from one decade to another. I'm not sure why I kept reading it thru to the end. I think I did it to see if it would ever make any sense to me! I can't count how many times this put me to sleep. I hope I remember this author's name so I won't make a mistake and get any more of her books!

    Good.

I enjoyed reading this one. There are some funny parts that had me laughing out loud, especially the toilet seat thing towards the end ;) I wasn't able to read the entire book in one sitting, and had to keep going back to figure out who some of the characters were. The different names and disguises threw me off, and got a bit confusing. The writing style is a little different, skipping from past to present, but flows ok once you get into it a ways. Just over 1000 pages.

    I definitely recommend this book.

This book was a surprise for me. I've been kinda stuck in the historical romance mode, and thought this would be another romance novel. But, as it turned out, it wasn't exactly that, though there was a touch of romance in it. I got hooked with the plot twists, cringed a bit, was angry and confused along with the heroine, growled at the bad guys, and cheered the ending.

    Romantic comedic suspense

I totally agree with the previous post. You do find yourself laughing outloud then amazed by this clever author. I truly could see this playing out on the big screen.
