Meet the Author

Harry Mazer's The Last Mission is drawn closely from his experiences as a seventeen-year-old in the Army Air Corps. Like Jack, he was a Jewish boy from the Bronx full of fantasies about heroism, and like Jack, he became a waist gunner and never fired his guns. He remembers, "I was scared every time we flew....On our 26th mission we flew over Pilzen, Czechoslovakia, to bomb the Skoda Munitions Works. We missed our target, turned over the target again, and were hit. I saw Mike, who was our radio operator, frozen in the door of the radio room. He never made it out of the plane. Only three of us parachuted....No one in the plane lived." ( ALAN Review, Fall 1980)

Harry Mazer is the editor of Twelve Shots: Outstanding Short Stories About Guns, where twelve authors explore the extreme emotions that guns provoke in all of us. Walter Dean Myers, Rita Williams-Garcia, Richard Peck and other well-known authors create a riveting collection of short fiction that explores the emotion-driven world of guns.

    ACTION!!!!!

This book is phenomenal! I had to read it in my Literature class. At first I looked at the cover and thought it be a horible book, but once I read the intorduction my whole perspective changed on it! This book is about a 15 year old boy named Tony and a girl named Cindy. Tony goes off and steals his mothers car and picks Cindy. Suddenly, a enormous snow storm hits and Tony and Cindy are stranded in the car 50 miles away AWAY from their home. Tony and Cindy struggle to survive by burning the papers out of school refrence books for a fire. You will notice this book is full on suprises and unexpected survival uses! I definatley reccomend this book to kids 10-13 that like survival books!!

two teenagers stranded in the wilderness

It was a good book. It didn't have a lot of action, but it was ok. 'Snowbound' is about two teenagers stuck in the wilderness after their car crashes off the road. I recommend it for readers that can go through some slow parts.

    Snow Bound

I think Snow Bound was an okay book. Yeah, it did have a lot of stupid things in there, like the 15 year old running away with the car. It was an exciting story at times though. Wondering if Cindy and him will survive gave me the chills. It was an interesting book and yes, I would recommend it to others.

King Arthur is bound to the pound?????

I thought Snow Bound was a pretty disapointing book. It was a book about a kid who couldn't keep his dog, which he named KING ARTHUR! So then because he was mad, he skipped school and stole his parents car. As if that wasn't enough, he picked up a hitch hiker named Cindy. After that he crashed his car in a field and got lost and had to fight his way out. Pretty believable huh! Oh and by the way, he is FIFTEEN and has a fort where he played with King Arthur and his imaginary friends. So the reasons I didn't like it was because I thought it was unrealistic and it didn't grab my attention. I also didn't like it because I thought it didn't have a very good plot, since it was so dramatic. It also sounded like some ideas were just thrown down, such as a kid stealing a car etc... But this was just my opinion, if you think it sounded good go ahead and read it. I can't stop you. But I can warn you.
