Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Snow creates lots of winter fun in Lalaloopsy Land. Mittens and Ivory go out to play by building snowmen and going sledding. They join their friend, Holly for more snow fun. The three girls meet Swirly who is skating at the pond and they decide to ice skate with Swirly. Holly hesitates because she does not know how to skate. Mittens, Ivory, and Swirly offer to teach Holly how to skate. With some wobbly attempts, Holly attempts to skate; however, she falls and scrapes her leg. At the first aid station, Rosy fixes up Holly’s scrape. With her friends’ encouragement and support, Holly tries to skate again. The pictures provide support to the text by capturing the events in the story. Emergent readers may enjoy hearing the story read aloud while early readers may like reading this adventure of the Lalaloopsy dolls. This book is a part of “Lalaloopsy” series about different, button-eyed dolls in the collection. The publisher designated the book as a Level 2 reader; this story has a plot and themes that may be used in developing early reader’s reading comprehension. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung; Ages 4 to 7.
