Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sharon Oliver
This short, sweet story in the "Puppy Place" series will be appreciated by many early readers who have been denied ownership of the dog they always wanted. Charles and Lizzie, in second and fourth grades respectively, have become a puppy foster family. The family takes in dogs on a temporary basis until a good permanent home can be found for them. This time it is a small, white terrier that has been abandoned. About the same time the dog is rescued, Charles is introduced to his "Grandbuddy" who lives in an assisted living facility. Charles is certain he has found the ideal home for Snowball, but will he be allowed at the facility? This is a sweet beginning chapter book, ideal for the puppy loving second grader. The story is simple without being boring, the dialogue between family members is realistic, and the tone of the book is just right, with a happy ending but not so sentimental as to lose male readers.

    Great Book!

Kids: This series is a great series for you to read. I suggest reading them in order; there is a review below this that will show them in order.

Parents: This is a loving series about two kids who rescue dogs and find a great home for them. The age range I would recommend is between 5 years old and 9 years old.

    I LOVE this book

Snowball is so ADORABLE! I have this book and I love it. It is such a cute & good story but I wouldn't say it is my favorite. Shadow is actually my favorite. He is so smart just like Goldie and Snowball.

    A reviewer

I wanted to read this book because almost everyone in my class likes dogs, and I'm a cat person, so I saw it in my class bookshelf, and I ran to get it. I liked the book and now I'm reading The Puppy Place, Goldie. When I'm finished I'll do a review on that one.
