Overview

To college student, Katie Brandt, ‘Home for the Holidays’ sounds like hell. When her parents separated, their holiday traditions shattered like a dropped ornament. What could be worse than celebrating Christmas with her suddenly single mom and mom’s new boyfriend?

Alex Walker, an engaged 20-year-old, dreads going home for his own reasons. He has a daunting task ahead of him and wishes he could skip the holidays altogether. So when a friend of a friend needs a ride north, Alex finds that having beautiful Katie seated by his side proves to be just the distraction he needs.

A simple ride home for Christmas turns into a nightmare when light snow rages into a full-scale blizzard. Katie and Alex find themselves stranded, and a vacant cabin becomes a haven from the storm. Under different circumstances, time alone with Alex would be the ultimate Christmas gift, but Katie knows Alex is engaged and she must hide her growing attraction.

However, Alex harbors a secret that just might change this holiday from the worst Christmas ever, to the best.

You know that magic little happy pill that people joke about? "Man, she needs to take a happy pill!" Guess what? I found a happy pill. A quick, sweet and down-to-the-ever-loving-point happy pill. Snowed Over is a recipe for sweetness. Cute college boy - check! Sweet college girl - check! Dire circumstances (i.e. freezing their tushies off in a blizzard) - check! Boy + Girl + canoodling to keep warm = recipe for many awwww moments.

Super Cute Holiday Novella

I love Angie Stanton's books. Snowed Over was no exception. Not only could I relate in terms of location but also weather. In WI it gets pretty cold and as I read this book, I could literally feel the cold as they experienced it.

Snowed Over was a very cute novella. I loved the story. I loved the characters. And I loved the ending. I would definitely be interested in hearing more of Alex and Katie's adventures.

Meet the Author

Angie Stanton never planned on writing books, she wanted to be a Rockette. However, growing up in a rural setting with her brothers’ 4-H pigs as pets, dance didn’t work out. Instead, she became an avid daydreamer. After years of perfecting stories in her head she began to write them down, and, as they say, the rest is history.

Angie attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attained a degree in Journalism. She has also mastered the skill of dipping french fries in chocolate shakes, loves natural disaster movies, and has never met a Broadway Musical she didn’t like. When not writing, Angie is concocting ways to make more dreams come true, whether it be tickets to a Broadway show or convincing her family they should rent an RV and travel the country.

Best selling books by Angie include Rock and a Hard Place, Snapshot, Dream Chaser, Snowed Over and Love ‘em or Leave ‘em. All are contemporary romances.

My Thoughts: When I saw this, I thought it sounded like a cute little story. And since it's a novella, it's a quick and easy read. I was right on all the above, but I was also surprised with a little bit more depth than expected for such a short story. Alex and Katie are a pretty cute pairing. Once they end up stranded, it's only a matter of time before they open up. Of course, considering Alex is engaged you know you shouldn't be hoping for something to happen between him and Katie. And yet, knowing the background of the situation, you pull for it all to work out in the end. The way their romance blooms is adorable and sweet. Despite the obstacles they face, and the problems they're dealing with in their real life and at the moment, you can tell they know it means something more. Yet, once they're rescued, what does that mean for their future now? Snowed Over, while formulaic, was actually a great story. It was a nice book to sit back and enjoy. I mean, being stuck with a cute boy in a cabin in the middle of nowhere? Yes, please. I would like to see how Angie Stanton handles a full length novel if she can do so well at a novella. My Rating: Very Good

This has to be one of the best Christmas novellas I have ever read. This story was absolutely adorable and I wanted to stay up another night just to read it all over again. Katie and Alex are such a cute couple and I loved both of them. You could see (or rather read) the chemistry between them without having to put any glasses on. They just had this thing from the moment that they first saw each other. There was this one part I was freaking out and then I was smiling and Angie Stanton really does mix up your feelings and you don't know what to expect next, I really liked that.  My only wish for this book was that it wasn't a novella but a full length novel so I could have gotten to know the characters a bit more. I love learning more and more about characters until they are practically my best friends.  If you are looking for something to read, especially a Christmas read I highly recommend that you pick this book up. It is sweet, short, and a light read.

Am I the only one who has noticed that the majority of holiday novellas revolve around the main character going home for the holidays? No matter. I can't get enough of it. Especially when the writing is great and the characters are awesome. That was definitely the case with Snowed Over. Oh, and bonus: road trip! I simply adore a good road trip story. Katie was smart, sweet and funny. Alex was gorgeous and swoony. Their connection was immediate and believable. As they spent more time together and more information about each of them came to light, the more convinced I was that they would make a perfect couple. Perhaps something positive could come from this disastrous trip after all. 'Tis the season for holiday novellas and this is one of my favorites of the year. It was a sweet, charming and clean story with characters I just couldn't help but love. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun holiday read. It was new adult, but could easily have been read as young adult. I was a little frustrated with Trina's character, but I loved Katie and Alex. Their time together was cute and made for an unforgettable Christmas. Sometimes, home isn't where the heart is. I would recommend this novella if you're looking for a light Christmas read. It gets four glittery stars for being an entertaining novella.

This was a cute story and I enjoyed reading about the characters Katie and Alex. I thought they worked well together especially once trouble hit and they were stuck together in the cabin. I just wish that the story was longer and we could've seen more of their relationship as it continued to grow...

This was a sweet story between Alex and Katie. But at the end of the book it just ended. I felt that it could have had at least another chapter to say they did the cabin thing the foolowing year. That's all.
