Overview

SNOWMAGEDDON, Book 5 in the Windy City Neighbors series, takes us back to the Bentley household as Estelle crusades for a group home to move onto their block in hopes that her mentally challenged son can become one of the residents. But the tenuous relationships the Bentleys have developed since they moved to the neighborhood risk coming apart as opposition to the group home uncovers age-old prejudices and fears, as well as simmering tensions between the two Jewish and Iranian families. Harry Bentley faces his own demons when he risks losing custody of his only grandson and when the young woman he promised to protect from a vengeful drug mule flees the safety of the neighborhood.

After so much progress,
Beecham Street faces another blizzard

SNOWMAGEDDON brings the Beecham Street neighbors full circle during a historic snowstorm that whiteouts a wedding, threatens the life of a mother and unborn child, and challenges just how much neighbors can count on each other when push comes to shove. Welcome to Beecham Street--a typical, isolated American neighborhood that was beginning to come out of its shell . . . but is about to be snowed under.

Snowmageddon was a fabulous book. After reading in once on an electronic device, I read it again as the book in order to refresh my mind before our book club meeting. Having read ALL of Dave and Neda Jackson's books from the Yada Yada series completely through Snowmageddon, I feel like all of these characters are real to me. This book brought a lot of topics for us to discuss - namely, that we all wished we had neighbors like these people. Life is too fast now but we all need to check on neighbors and try to witness and be a good neighbor. This neighborhood was so diverse in cultures and this made it fun to see how people would respond. Snowmageddon was a good book as it brought everything together, but we are wondering what will happen to Ramona, what kind of life will Grace and have now that they are married, how will DeShawn and his dad work things out, etc. What will happen in Michelle and Jared's lives now with the new baby. It goes on and on - and I am anxious to see what new series Dave and Neda bring to us next. Thanks for writing such great books. Lilah Winget

It sure was a great visit for me back to Beecham Street and the Bentley's. I can get caught up in the hustle and bustle surrounding their life quicker than their grandson DaShawn can go through Estelle's macaroni and cheese! Seriously, the Jacksons, who co-write this series, are so good at their craft! There is always, always real issues in their stories; whether it be relationships within families, personal fears and how we let them color our world, racism in all its' facets.....they always challenge me to ask what boundaries God is asking me to enlarge in my own world and in my faith. I will always, always pick up any book Dave and Neta Jackson write.

This book went beyond my wildest hopes and imaginations!! When I got to the culminating event near the end I was absolutely laughing out loud and thinking, "This is pure genius!! The best story I have ever read!" Seriously! Dave and Neta Jackson are the BEST at creating believable, complicated characters with real life joys and pains and conflicts and worries, yet at the same time showing the reader how God weaves all those things together into a good thing - maybe different than expected, but good. I'm sure this book could be greatly enjoyed even by a reader who has never read any of the rest of the series, but it is especially delightful after having read the other four. Better yet, after having read every book they have written since the first Yada Yada book. Can't wait to see what they are coming up with next!
