Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Laura Beckham
Have you ever had one of those days when you woke up feeling excited about spending the day outside, then realized that it is raining outside, ruining your plans? This is what George feels like. George and his mom have gotten dressed to go to the park, but it begins to rain. His mom reassures him because she has packed extra cuddles to keep him warm. As the story unfolds, she tells him about some cute and funny creatures that do some strange things to keep warm. She keeps things fun by counting from one to ten, and back again, while George plays at the park. The illustrations are bright, comical, and amusing. What child would not laugh at “six sizzling goats in red overcoats” or “eight fish with flippers in leopard spot slippers?” George finishes playing at the park and gets ready to go home, tired and cold after all his playing. At the end of his day, will George be toasty and warm as a goat in a coat or as freezy as a fox with holes in his socks? This is a delightful and humorous story that will help any child begin to learn about colors, counting, and rhyming. This is an ideal book to read with a child over and over again on a cold and rainy day. Reviewer: Laura Beckham; Ages 2 to 4.
