So Far¿ So Good The autobiography So Far¿ is about the life of Kelsey Grammer, and the struggles he faces on the road to success. From the loss of his sister, which he was very fond of, to the many unsuccessful relationships and marriages he had. He also tells about his struggles of his acting, on his way to becoming the Kelsey Grammer we have come to know. It is filled with many themes, and one of the most important themes, that comes up again and again is perseverance. Kelsey tells many stories about failing again, and again, until he finally catches a few breaks from his hard work and determination. One major message behind this theme is setting goals and standards for your self. He always kept the one major goal in mind of one day becoming an actor. Every time he was shut down he took it as a learning experience and took that lesson along with him on his long journey to becoming an actor. It teaches us that setting goals helps us accomplish the things that are important to us. I liked many aspects of this book one of these aspects would be the many stories that are told in his book. Very few end with everything working out, but instead he comes out more knowledgeable and with a lesson learned. I also like how he tells things how he sees them, to any person. His honesty causes him some trouble from time to time, but from a mixture of telling the truth and trying to accomplish his goal, in the long run, makes things work out. The way he tells his stories¿ is very unique and always interesting, and it will always keep you wanting to read more, which I liked. One thing I didn¿t like was the fact that he has had so many lovers and jobs, but always putting acting ahead of him, so he always seemed to lose both constantly. I thought he might try to keep other important things in his life to make it easier to reach his goal. I highly recommend this book because it is very inspiring and shows what one can do if they put their mind to it. It also shows that negative criticism and bad teachers, coaches, friends, lovers, etc. can have a positive influence on you in the long run if you can look at it as a learning experience and turn things around to your advantage. This book is also for people who want to relate to someone who has had many tragedy in their life, and don¿t know how to move on. Because he talks about many loved ones he has lost through out his life, and he describes how he handled all this and how he worked through it. It is an all around a very interesting and good book, and I believe any kind of person could learn something from it, and this is the reason I gave it a 4 out of 5.
Kelsey Grammer is one of America's most loved actors on television. His intelect combined with a well though out script have delivered to the TV sets of America an inspiring array drama and comedy. His book, allows the public to see the sweat and feel the pain of over twenty years of work. The end result being the successful actor we see today, but this book shows the long hard road he traveled to get where he is. Through sex and drugs, life and death Kelsey has shed each of these and continued to beat the odds and show us all what a wonderful person he is. Thank you Kelsey.
