So Good Together

Barnes & Noble - David McGee
Multiple producers is not the most confidence-inspiring sign on a new album -- indicative, typically, of an artist floundering for a new direction, or dissension in the studio, or both -- and Reba McEntire's latest has exactly five, counting Reba herself. But far from being a debacle, SO GOOD TOGETHER finds McEntire sounding positively revitalized. Yeah, there's the now-obligatory pop-styled power ballad, "I'll Be," by the queen of the form, Diane Warren. "What Do You Say" demands a mix of tenderness and tough-mindedness, and McEntire delivers the appropriate feel right on the money. Similarly, the medium-cool soul lament "Nobody Dies From a Broken Heart" gets a taut reading leavened by moments of subdued fervor. A beautiful bilingual duet with Jose y Durval on Boz Scaggs's "We're All Alone" is revivified simply by being delivered from the heart, as if every word really mattered. That's what SO GOOD TOGETHER is all about, cut to cut.

    Reba does it again

REBA'S NEW STYLE OF MUSIC REALLY COMES ALIVE ON THIS CD. ALL OF HER SONGS COULD BE PUT OUT AS SINGLES AND THEY WOULD PROBALY GO TO THE TOP OF THE CHARTS IN NO TIME AT ALL.

    REBA is the GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The song, 'I'LL BE' is the mosst beautiful song I ahve heard. I was driving home one day and it came on the radio and I cried for my Mother. The song reminds me of me and my mothers relationship. It really touched my heart. Every time I hear it, I start crying. Keep up the great work Reba, you are a truely wonderful person. Brenda
