The Sewing Directory
I've always wondered how to make sock animals but have never had a go at it, this book is a perfect guide. It's full of inspiration, lots of different animals to make, octopuses, squirrels, lions, rabbits, mice and many more from all shapes and sizes of socks and some from gloves too. Its projects are split into skill categories, those for beginners and children, for intermediate level and the more experienced. There are step by step written and photographic instructions to guide you through the projects. There is also a section at the front telling you what supplies you will need and showing a few different stitches. It also gives you a few tips for making the projects in the book. Now you have something to do with all those mysterious odd socks that appear in the washing!

After originally buying this book for myself, I bought a copy for a friend for Christmas and she couldn't wait to get started making her own sock animals.

My washing machine eats socks! I know yours does too! Not to worry anymore. I know what to do with the leftover ones. Hamsters, lions, mice and penguins! Yes, I'm talking sock creatures - very, very cute sock creatures. Brenna Maloney's Socks Appeal: 16 Fun & Funky Friends Sewn from Socks gives us all we need to know. Brenna did an exceptional job on this book because it is fun to read, easy, concise, with wonderful results and you already have the fabric! Even my grandchildren are making them for gifts for their friends! If you're new to sewing, just following the simple directions and the colorful photos. If you've been sewing for ages like me, sit down and have some fun!
