Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This slim-volume is a new addition to the Benchmark Series "The Elements." The 32- page book has easy-to-read text and is chock-full of brilliantly colored graphs, charts, diagrams, illustrations and color photographs. Readers will find information on sodium and its special characteristics, how sodium was discovered and how it is extracted and used. Another useful resource is the colorful two-page spread of the periodic table of elements. Examples of how salt has played a critical role over the centuries are revealed in medieval art. The production of sea salt for use by today's modern consumers is discussed. A glossary is included and is a useful resource. This volume is an excellent resource in the science classroom or home library.
