All Music Guide - Richie Unterberger
Recorded for the most part in the late '60s and early '70s, this is a compilation of incredibly wrong-headed, ill-conceived covers of stone-cold rock classics like "Louie Louie," "Like a Rolling Stone," "Revolution," and "White Room" by whitebread adult pop singers and quasi-muzak orchestras. Julie London takes on "Louie Louie"; Percy Faith whitewashes "The Ballad of John And Yoko"; The Living Voices whoever they were sing "Like a Rolling Stone" as if it was a bank commercial. The CD also contains a significant, if ghastly, piece of rock & roll history: Pat Boone's 1956 cover of "Long Tall Sally," explicitly designed to connive teenagers who weren't yet aware that Little Richard was doing the same song in another galaxy.
