Meet the Author

Myla Jackson spent her young life as a tomboy, creating adventures in the style of Huck Finn. When she discovered the difference between girls and boys, she shed her tomboy ways and jumped passionately into her life as a woman with all the longings for love and romance.

She’s traveled across the United States and to Germany, as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves and the U.S. Air Force Reserves, managed a full-time career and raised three children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she’ll tell you, what it’s like to go toe-to-toe with a 250-pound angry ostrich!

Her new love is writing about heroes, heroines, romance and passion, enabling her to relive her adventures of youth and create more exciting forays into the endless possibilities of undiscovered worlds, cultures, species and magic. Visit Myla Jackson at http://mylajackson.com

    Very short but hot

Its written in first-person, which is not a style I like, from the point of a military wife who hasn't heard from her deployed husband in over a month. Its hot and loving but VERY short.

5 page short story (minus front- and end-matter)

SOLIDER COME HOME runs five pages on my reader. Nice, quick, simple. Myla Jackson has written a quickie...filled with two hot sex scenes (one remembered, one upon his return) between husband and wife...Jimmy (the soldier) ...and the wife...whose name I don't think we were ever given. It worked OK...it was told in first person, and while Jimmy calls her "sweetheart," not by name.

The story is rich with the wife's longing, missing her soldier husband who's been overseas for a year. Without children, she's particularly lonely. We don't know any details...does she work? Is she without support of other military wives? We don't know. She's just craving any sort of contact as jimmy's letters have become conspicuously absent, no Skype contact, no emails. she's justifiably worried. But Jimmy does come home.

Nice, short, quick. Probably published with the purpose of introducing the writer's style and putting an excerpt of her other work (list of titles and an excerpt from Sex Ed....which takes up the majority of the end matter, about 6 pages).

    Sensuality level: spicy
    Language: PG

Recommended to fans of very short stories, military romance, contemporaries.
