Overview

"Through a combination of tight, well-structured plots and fully realized characters, Chesser has emerged as one of the top indie writers in the business."
- Joe McKinney, two time Bram Stoker Award winner, and best-selling author of the Dead World series.

Soldier On, Book 2 in the Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse series, picks up on Day 4 where "Trudge: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse" left off.
For Cade Grayson, father, husband, and former Delta Force operator, life has changed drastically over the course of forty-eight hours. He's watched the dead inexplicably return to life before his very eyes. He's lost many people near and dear to him, most dying unfathomably horrible deaths at the hands of the dead who have seemingly overnight taken over the big metropolis-their numbers and hunger for human flesh growing exponentially with each passing hour.
After having been forced to kill his reanimated neighbors in self-defense and then surviving the perilous overland journey from his home in Portland, Oregon, Cade finds temporary refuge inside the wire of a Special Forces garrison on the outskirts of Salt Lake City, Utah.
But his stay is short and he decides to strike out alone, resuming the search for his missing wife, Brook, and eleven-year-old daughter, Raven, the only way he knows how-with a laser-like focus and full speed ahead.
So in the early morning hours on Day 4 of what might be the United States and perhaps the entire globe's Extinction Level Event, he slips out Camp Williams' back gate riding a specially modified off-road motorcycle.
Armed and resupplied and with only a satellite phone connecting him to the crumbling world, Cade soldiers on eastbound-locked and loaded-with Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his small family's last known whereabouts, dead set in his sights.
Meanwhile, four hundred miles away in Colorado Springs, Colorado-the new capital of the United States-President-by-succession Valerie Clay works round the clock with what's left of the military to gather together the resources and scientific know-how necessary to stop the Omega Virus' rapid spread and, starting with Colorado Springs, rid the country of the multitudes of walking dead.
Will the nineteen hundred miles and the millions of dead in Cade's path succeed in keeping him separated from his family?
Will mankind find a foothold against the dead and turn the tide of war?

Cade Grayson, locked and loaded, is determined to find out.

Loved it. Finally got to see a few loose ends tied up. Gratefull that the "redhead" got his due and that every hero got to rest at peace in the end.

Wow! A zombie novel where some of the survivors are to be feared more than the zombies! Amazing writing....this series will appeal to anyone who likes reading action, adventure, zombie, military/war or thriller books. I cannot understand why none of the books in the Trudge series have not made it to the Best Seller lists??!! This series would make a great tv series, mini or full seasons. There are so many more things going on than just the average zombie apocalypse caused by a virus. Small spoiler: a wealthy influential group of men have been adding members & putting their men into various political roles, adding more members & amassing land and weapons since the late 1940' s awaiting some type of war or large scale disaster to occur on American soil so that they can move ahead with their plan to take over & divide up the USA and the survivors as their subjects. The OmegaVirus that turned the majority of the population into zombies within a few short days was their opening to start what their gold old boys club had been planning for decades. Another threat to the survivors of the virus are a violent group led by a crazed, nazi skin head leader of a motorcycle gang who are taking over Idaho by murdering (and other vile acts) against the survivors as they go from town to town. Both groups have ambushed and killed US Troops and Military Convoys that were out searching for survivors and/or killing off the infected. The book follows 2 families & a few other solo survivors, some military, most not.......it ends at the new capitol of the US & a to be announced top secret mission to save the survivors and the fate of whats left of the USA!! PAGE TURNER FOR SURE! Cant stop! Kudos to the author!

Shawn doesnt disappoint. This is the 2 nd half of my review. Top notch action. I agree with the other writer about the neonatal thing then when a convoy is under attack there isnt enuf gas to help out. Seems just like how the treat our guys in the stan and sand box being denied air assets because they are affraid of hitting some poor local who at the drop of a dime would turn arround and attack our troops. Also good friendship across the ages shows once in you always a member of the pack. The Guild thing isbelievable and at the time of this writing the Bush' s seem to fit the bill but what would be more believable now is Prez Osama Bin Obama being linked up with the muslim brotherhood/ Hamas and Al-Quaida. Hes already giving money to a country know to be run bye a terrorist member who is sympathetic to our enemies cause and currently shooting missles at one of our strongest allirs in the middle east whom the current US President snubbed leading the ruler of that country to appeal to the US citizen. Seems to me that this scenario is being played out real time right under the publics nose and no onr in congress or the senate has the balls to call him on it because no one wants to upset the apple cart and of course thebRACE CARD will be pulled when that doesnt have a damn thing to do with him being involved with our enemies. Also it is a violation of the constitution to aid and abet our enemies( which we are paying for) and im sure part of the 1.5 million we give the fountry finds its way into Hamas or Al- Quaidas lap to finance current and future terrorist attacks against us and our allies. The media needs to grow a nut sack and not be worried cuz he is a black man which isnt even true he is half white . So that can go both ways. Buy the book other than these few mix ups this book is an excellent read. Stop picking on the Bush' s for christ sake seems to me ol Osama Bin Obama is the devil incarnate who is dragging this country down not a bunch of Texas good ol boys club

>> A pretty decent read. Well developed and fast paced. Some creduality is lost when 2 helicopters and squad of soldiers rush out to a hospital for birthing supplies for the new major's wife...then when a squad is being over ran they cannot spare gas to help them. Also every time these elite soldiers go on a mission someone immediately dies in a careless way reminding one of the red shirted guys in Star Treck! Having said all that, I liked it well enough to read the nextinstallment.
