Overview

"Through a combination of tight, well-structured plots and fully realized characters, Chesser has emerged as one of the top indie writers in the business."
- Joe McKinney, two time Bram Stoker Award winner, and best-selling author of the Dead World series.

Soldier On, Book 2 in the Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse series, picks up on Day 4 where "Trudge: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse" left off.

For Cade Grayson, father, husband, and former Delta Force operator, life has changed drastically over the course of forty-eight hours. He's watched the dead inexplicably return to life before his very eyes. He's lost many people near and dear to him, most dying unfathomably horrible deaths at the hands of the dead who have seemingly overnight taken over the big metropolis–their numbers and hunger for human flesh growing exponentially with each passing hour.

After having been forced to kill his reanimated neighbors in self-defense and then surviving the perilous overland journey from his home in Portland, Oregon, Cade finds temporary refuge inside the wire of a Special Forces garrison on the outskirts of Salt Lake City, Utah.

But his stay is short and he decides to strike out alone, resuming the search for his missing wife, Brook, and eleven-year-old daughter, Raven, the only way he knows how—with a laser-like focus and full speed ahead.
So in the early morning hours on Day 4 of what might be the United States and perhaps the entire globe's Extinction Level Event, he slips out Camp Williams' back gate riding a specially modified off-road motorcycle.

Armed and resupplied and with only a satellite phone connecting him to the crumbling world, Cade soldiers on eastbound—locked and loaded—with Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his small family's last known whereabouts, dead set in his sights.

Meanwhile, four hundred miles away in Colorado Springs, Colorado—the new capital of the United States—President-by-succession Valerie Clay works round the clock with what's left of the military to gather together the resources and scientific know-how necessary to stop the Omega Virus' rapid spread and, starting with Colorado Springs, rid the country of the multitudes of walking dead.

Will the nineteen hundred miles and the millions of dead in Cade's path succeed in keeping him separated from his family?

Will mankind find a foothold against the dead and turn the tide of war?

Cade Grayson, locked and loaded, is determined to find out.

Pretty good series, but some issues

The author has a talented and creative side, but this book is filled with grammatical errors. The first book had a few here and there, but this one had many errors, especially within the second half. The errors can be a bit distracting from the story. Overall, the plot is very interesting and well thought out. The series is good enough that I plan to read all of the books.

Loved it. Finally got to see a few loose ends tied up. Gratefull that the "redhead" got his due and that every hero got to rest at peace in the end.

    Fantastic Read

Wow! A zombie novel where some of the survivors are to be feared more than the zombies! Amazing writing....this series will appeal to anyone who likes reading action, adventure, zombie, military/war or thriller books. I cannot understand why none of the books in the Trudge series have not made it to the Best Seller lists??!! This series would make a great tv series, mini or full seasons. There are so many more things going on than just the average zombie apocalypse caused by a virus. Small spoiler: a wealthy influential group of men have been adding members & putting their men into various political roles, adding more members & amassing land and weapons since the late 1940' s awaiting some type of war or large scale disaster to occur on American soil so that they can move ahead with their plan to take over & divide up the USA and the survivors as their subjects. The OmegaVirus that turned the majority of the population into zombies within a few short days was their opening to start what their gold old boys club had been planning for decades. Another threat to the survivors of the virus are a violent group led by a crazed, nazi skin head leader of a motorcycle gang who are taking over Idaho by murdering (and other vile acts) against the survivors as they go from town to town. Both groups have ambushed and killed US Troops and Military Convoys that were out searching for survivors and/or killing off the infected. The book follows 2 families & a few other solo survivors, some military, most not.......it ends at the new capitol of the US & a to be announced top secret mission to save the survivors and the fate of whats left of the USA!! PAGE TURNER FOR SURE! Cant stop! Kudos to the author!

    Good

    >> A pretty decent read. Well developed and fast paced. Some creduality is lost when 2 helicopters and squad of soldiers rush out to a hospital for birthing supplies for the new major's wife...then when a squad is being over ran they cannot spare gas to help them. Also every time these elite soldiers go on a mission someone immediately dies in a careless way reminding one of the red shirted guys in Star Treck! Having said all that, I liked it well enough to read the nextinstallment.
